Work from yesterday and today

Hi everyone.
Yesterday I started with the Quick Readings. I did all of them. My mum is trying to get me to remember capital letters and full stops in sentences. She wanted me to write full sentences in my Quick Reading to help practice this.

I then did colouring half and quarters in shapes. Followed up by Epic Reading.

To finish off I looked back at my igloo drawings. I made notes about what is different from my house and what is the same.
The same.
1. I have underbed storage like the inuits do.
2. They still have a window and an entrance like our house.
3. They live with their family under one roof like me.

Different.
1. They don’t have as much space as my house.
2. There is no electric or lights.
3. They don’t have any internet.
4. I don’t think it will be as comfortable as there is no comfortable chairs or mattresses.
5. They won’t have as many things to do as I do.

Today my mum made me practice my sentence writing again to practice my capital letters and full stops. She made me write out animal facts I know and then I had to describe an animal or creature like I did with my Christmas presents.  Can you guess?
They have 4 legs and 2 raptors. They have a pair of antenna. They like eating flying insects. They come in many colours, but they are normally green or brown.

I then did the circle half sheet and will now move on to some Sumdog. Looking forward to the class meet up!
Bye for now
Rory.

  1. Good for Mum getting you working on your sentences Rory – see, it’s not just teachers who think they are important! Excellent comparison of your house with an Inuit home, I can see you’ve really researched and then thought about the two. I agree, they don’t sound as comfortable. I don’t think all your pets would like living there as much either would they?

  2. You have been working very hard Rory – well done. I am going to guess that the creature you are describing is a mantis? You are very good at describing things.

  3. I’m glad to hear you have been working on using capital letters and full stops in your sentences. Have you ever tried using coloured pens or pencils to help you remember them? Use a green for capital letters and a red for full stops. Try to think of it like traffic lights- green for go and red for stop. Fantastic work Rory- well done!

  4. Hi Rory, you have put a lot of thought into comparing igloos with your house and you shared some good ideas. The modern houses that the Inuit live in are more like our houses. You are doing well with your reading, your answers show you have good understanding.
