Hi all, Caspian is back!

My happiness picture is of Idris in the woods today but she kept bouncing around so the picture is blurry. She is a really funny and cute dog and we always have a great time on our walks. We are still doing our mile a day challenge, we even did it in the rain at the weekend.

First this morning I did some algebra. Then my spelling today focussed on one word in particular. I can finally spell DISAPPEAR!!!!!!!! Mum gave me three challenges to help me remember the spelling. First I speed wrote disappear as many times as I could in one minute. Then I wrote five sentences with the word disappear. Finally, I created a wordograph.

Next I did the letter ink blots. Followed by French. The exercise with the animal sounds is wrong as it says pigs oink in French and also groin in French. The first French should have been English. Mum said I had a keen editorial eye. Also in the word search, I found that cheval stands for goats cheese. I finished on 5 a day. I had to do all my workings out as Mum realised my last lot were done with a calculator. Oops, I was caught, sorry!!

After Tanith’s calm club, Mark introduced us all to Mongolian tribal heavy metal music. Mum, Mark and me created a tribal dance to the beat of the music but Tanith didn’t like it so didn’t join in. It is nothing like the songs she writes or likes. I thought the heavy metal was cool and really different.

Day 5 of home school learning today i done 1 hour of sumdog then i coloured half and colour quarter and done my mixed up 3 times table.  I tried to watch Zog and the Flying Doctor but it’s not working.  Instead i created a character i thought would be in the show.

Hello everyone, I went to the wood during my challenge walk. Mummy took a picture of me on the tree swing for my happy picture because it made me smile and laugh a lot to swing high.

In the morning, I did some maths partitions, a letter dot to dot and very neat curly writing in my spellings. For my picture news I read about people being kind to each other. I try to be kind by giving home made jam to our shopping delivery men and ladies. One man liked it so much that he asked for another jar when he saw us again. We also make cupcakes for our neighbours and write cards to old people homes and the hospitals.

I have done some fractions colouring in today. Quarters are difficult I think but Mark and Mummy have helped me. Dodger is a bit better. He had to be picked up by the vet lady again on Saturday as he was really poorly but he seems to be cheering up a bit now. He has a lot of medicine and some special food.

I set up a calm club today. Everyone had to sit with cross legs and follow what I said. We all imagined being small in a big world and riding on the back of lovely birds. It made us all smile a lot and we will do it every day.

Mark played us a  weird kind of music today. It was Mongolian heavy metal tribe music. I didn’t like it much but everyone else did a tribal dance around the woods when Mark played it on his phone.

Today I started with my 5 a day. Need to practice my long division and so does my Mum. I also then went on to do my Sumdog challenge, but it was using words I’d never heard before. My mum then came and read it and decided she will research tonight and we will have a bash again tomorrow once she knows how to explain it.  I then read the graphic novel of MacBeth on Epic to prepare for my task tomorrow. I’m going to write the text discussion.
I’ve then spent a lot of time researching Polar Bears in Myth and Folklore. I decided to write out some of the information I discovered.

Polar Bear Folklore and Myths
Polar bears feature a lot in Inuit myth and folklore.
Many tales and legends tell of the great, white bear, who wanders the Arctic realm.
In many legends the polar bear is seen as a kind of skin walker or shapeshifter that changes from a bear into a man at certain times of the day or when they enter their winter dens. Some reference this as a curse and the bear has to convince a girl to live with them for a year to break the curse. Others see this as a blessing. It is believed this came from the way polar bears would often walk on their back legs in a human like manner.

In Inuit religion there was tales of a polar bear called Nanook. It was believed Nanook was who decided whether their hunting trips for bears would be successful or not. When the Inuits killed a polar bear they treated the polar bear skins as a sacred object, placing them in a special part of their igloo. They offered the skins tools and objects as they believed the bear had wanted to be killed to gain these objects to take into the afterlife. They believed that if they treated the skin well the bear would tell other polar bears this person was a great hunter and person, so they should allow themselves to be killed by them.

According to Inuit tradition it was the Polar bear that taught humans how to hunt seals. The Polar bears are greatly respected for the symbol of strength and courage. Inuit shamans would often call on the spirit of the polar bear.

Lastly this is my picture a day…although it is a video. Lettuce decided she was a bit grumpy. Female mantis can be a bit dramatic sometimes. I took the video to show my mum, but it shows how beautiful all her colours are so I thought I’d share it here 🙂

Hi everyone.
Today I started with the maths problems. I liked that I was part of it and Cleo asked if we were famous!

1. There would be 24 praying mantis (and it would be complete chaos!).
2. Rhona, Oriana and Skye would have 102 books in total.
3. There would be 69 people in total meaning they would need 3 buses. This would cost the school £450.
4.  The P1s would eat 12 sausage rolls in total leaving 63. The P2s would eat 21 in total. This would leave 42.
5. Kohdie would need to cook 40 in total. This would take 4 packets.

I then followed up with Sumdog.
Then I watched some information videos on Inuits and their igloos. I also read the information provided on the sheet. I then drew a diagram of outside the igloo and then inside the igloo.

I then read another chapter of the Christmasaurus by Tom Fletcher.

Finally here is my happy picture for today. A pile of my cuddly toys from last night, including my Mickey I described last week.

Hi everybody today I got given 3 books to read by Mrs Jardine. I picked the one called Under the ice. It was about a boy that lived with his Grandmother who gets kidnapped by a sea creature. Then his Grandmother went to this place and begged hunters to find him and he gets saved and goes home. I also did maths and spelling. I got 9/10 in my spelling. By Esmaé
