Polar Bear Day

Hello, welcome back! Today I have been doing two pages of maths. I did partitioning and sequencing and I have done some spelling – queen, storm, thunder, scary, hungry, flowers, future, warn, drums, violins and people. After that I did three long facts about polar bears and then I had a look online to see how to draw a polar bear. And I did some nice colours and patterns. My polar bear is called Patain and he is wearing a Chinese coat and has rainbow ears. His eyes are blue and his fur is patterned with green hearts. These are my facts.

  1. Most polar bears live in the Arctic but some polar bears get rescued and live in other places.
  2. If you a real polar bear on a very long trip to see polar bears you would be very lucky.
  3. Some polar bears have grey and white fur.
  4. Female polar bears are smaller than men polar bears.
  5. Big and covered from head to toe in white fur, polar bears are easy to recognise.
  6. Adult males can reach weights of over 700 kilograms.
  7. Length of a polar bear can be between 3 and 10 feet.
  8. Although brown bears have been recorded that outweigh polar bears, polar bears are generally considered to be the largest bear on out planet.

Goodbye, always smile and be happy.

Lots of love Tanith xxx

  1. Well done for working so hard today, Tanith. You have been very creative with your colours and patterns on your polar bear.

  2. You have worked really hard today, Tanith – well done! You are right about the polar bears looking white, but did you know that their fur is actually clear? It just looks white when the sun shines on it. I wish that polar bears did look as colourful as yours, yours is SUPER, but I think it helps them to be camouflaged. I am curious, what would the polar bears be rescued from? Thanks for sharing your poster.

  3. It sounds like you have been working hard on your maths and spelling Tanith- well done! I love your polar bear facts and drawing. Maybe you could make a wee book story using Patain as the main character. 🙂

  4. What a cute looking polar bear! Looks happy and I can almost see a smile on his face! Great drawing skills there, Tanith!
ASABH! (can you work out what the letters stand for?)
