Vikings

Hi all, Caspian is back!

I have not been blogging for a few days because I have been learning and researching a lot. I have researched: The Spanish Armada, The Vikings, Temperature, and tried out my spelling skills. I did a spelling test and got 19/20, I spelt fulfil as fulfill. I also did a maths test and got 10/10. In the Spanish Armada comprehension I did I did well as my Mum said and in my temperature I got quite a few correct questions. I have been doing more maths questions than I can remember. Its been a great few days!

The Vikings spread throughout Europe in 800 AD;

They took direction from the stars;

King Cnut ruled Denmark, England and Norway. He compared himself to God but when he tried to control the waves, obviously they did not obey;

Vikings gave their swords names;

They were termed berserkirs – warriors who got wound up for battle;

They boiled their water by inserting hot stones;

Viking children learned how to ride horses and boys had to be ready for battle by the time they reached 16;

They thought the end of the world was the edge of the ocean;

The days of the week which still have Viking names are Wednesday Woden, Thursday Thor, Friday Frida.

Father Christmas was originally the god Yule which is where we get Yuletide from;

I have written my name in runes but the Viking alphabet does not have a C and a P so I am Asian.

That’s all for now, zài jiàn !!!(That’s Chinese for “Goodbye!!!”)

The Beach

Hi all, Caspian is back!

I have been on Sumdog today. I will definitely join the challenge which starts on 13 November.

I have done some comprehension work today – The Cave. I wrote two poems about the beach:-

Bright

Excellent

Awesome

Chill

Hot

The beach,

not to be bleached,

full of wonder,

lovely to ponder,

occasional jellyfish,

not to be eaten on a dish,

that is my story,

I believe half gory.

Bye.

Teddy Bear Day

Hello, this is the picture from the story I read today. Teddy Bears Party by Molly Brett. I answered some questions and also did some handwriting. Then I made up a picnic list and some party games for the teddies. I have just come back from school where I talked with my teachers it was really good.

Guy Fawkes And Bonfire Night

Hi all, Caspian is back!

Today I have been researching facts on Guy Fawkes. Here they are:

  1. He was not the master of the plot to destroy James I.
  2. The plot master was really Roberts Catesky.
  3. St. Peters School, in York, were Guy was taught, does not celebrate bonfire night in respect for their former pupil.
  4. In Spain’s 80 Years War, Guy was known as Guido Fawkes.
  5.  When he was arrested, he gave a false name of John Johnson.
  6. He tried to blow up Parliament to, ‘Blow you Scotch beggars back to your native mountains!’
  7. He was tortured for four painful days.
  8. He was hung drawn and quartered.
  9. He is classed as ‘The 30th Greatest Briton’.
  10. After his torture, he signed a confession.
  11. There is an island named after him.
  12. There is also a Guy Fawkes Inn.
  13. There were 36 barrels to be blown up.
  14. He was arrested before he lighted the fuse.
  15. People build Guy Fawkes effigies to burn.

Also, remember, remember, the fifth of November, gunpowder treason and plot,

We see no reason why gunpowder treason, should ever be forgot.

I’ve also done some Sumdog today.

See ya tomorrow!

Letters

Hello, I have been writing letters to my friends and family today. I drew a fairy picture on all of my home made cards and said what I have been doing lately. I also said about some of my lessons and my woodland walks and my baking with mummy. I said that my people are special to me and to smile every day.

Byeeee, love from Tanith xxx

k’nex

Hola it’s Sarah. We did K’nex. Josie and I made a crane it can’t lift stuff yet. We had a tube, syringes, K’nex and tape. We used the syringe and tube for air pressure so it would be able to move. We had to use a lot of bits. Our model was a bit small but it worked. Some of the the other models were really big or could move.

TOPIC [ FORCES ]

Topic:

In topic, we have been doing FORCES. We have been making pulley systems. We have also been making structures that move like a crane. We made this with two syringes and a medium size tub and the two syringes cause force when you push  one it makes the other one go up and that’s how you make a crane . This is not mine, but it’s cool. By Dakota
