Hi all, Caspian is back!
Today I have been researching facts on Guy Fawkes. Here they are:
- He was not the master of the plot to destroy James I.
- The plot master was really Roberts Catesky.
- St. Peters School, in York, were Guy was taught, does not celebrate bonfire night in respect for their former pupil.
- In Spain’s 80 Years War, Guy was known as Guido Fawkes.
- When he was arrested, he gave a false name of John Johnson.
- He tried to blow up Parliament to, ‘Blow you Scotch beggars back to your native mountains!’
- He was tortured for four painful days.
- He was hung drawn and quartered.
- He is classed as ‘The 30th Greatest Briton’.
- After his torture, he signed a confession.
- There is an island named after him.
- There is also a Guy Fawkes Inn.
- There were 36 barrels to be blown up.
- He was arrested before he lighted the fuse.
- People build Guy Fawkes effigies to burn.
Also, remember, remember, the fifth of November, gunpowder treason and plot,
We see no reason why gunpowder treason, should ever be forgot.
I’ve also done some Sumdog today.
See ya tomorrow!
Hi Caspian 🙂 I have entered our class into the Dumfries and Galloway Sumdog contest, it starts on the 13th of November! Would be great to see you on the leader board.
I will do my best!
