Happy Seahorses ❤

Hi everyone,

I didn’t write a blog yesterday because I struggled with my maths so was a bit cross. Mummy has helped lots and lots today so I did very well and understood better.

I have researched a lot about seahorses. These are my facts from my book and programme. Mummy and Caspian helped me too.

Seahorses are masters of camouflage.

A seahorses has no teeth and a primitive stomach.

They make a clucking sound when eating.

A seahorse’s eyes move independently.

A seahorses headdress is called a coroner. They are like fingerprints, they are all different.

Seahorses are terrible swimmers.

Seahorses have no scales.

The male carries the babies.

The female nods because she is in charge.

I love seahorses ❤

I also helped make lemon and sultana scones after I drew a seahorses for you.

Byee, see you soon. xx

My Review On The House With The Chicken Legs

Hi guys. It’s Cleo and today I will be doing my review of The House With The Chicken Legs.

The author is Sophie Anderson.

The main characters were Baba Yaga and Marinka. At the start Marinka tells us about her house and how it has chicken legs and she builds a bone fence to let ghosts or spirits in her house. Baba Yaga guides spirits through the gate to let them go to the stars.

Marinka then meets somebody called Benjiman. He has found a lamb and he asks Marinka to keep his lamb for 1 or 2 nights while he asks his Dad if he can keep the lamb. However the house moves on to live somewhere else so the lamb stays with Marinka for a while. She calls the lamb Benji because she misses Benjiman. Half way through the book Marinka meets a ghost. She talks to her for a while then keeps her in her bedroom. This is because Marinka doesn’t have any other friends except Baba Yaga so she is lonely. She keeps her for a while until she finds out she is also a ghost who didn’t go through the gate. The book then follows how Marinka deals with this discovery.

I enjoyed it because it was very interesting and it seemed like a wild adventure for Marinka. It was interesting to read her realisation of being a ghost and how she coped with it.  I also liked the spooky edge to the book discussing the afterlife.

Another reason I enjoyed it is because it seems to be based off a myth and I love myths. The myth is about a lady called Baba Yaga. She has a house with chicken legs and she goes around looking for children.  If she finds good children she MIGHT let them go, but she will most likely eat naughty children! I do love myths because they inspire my imagination so I love this book a lot.

That’s all for now. I hope you all have a great day! By Cleo

Today I started off doing my Spanish and quickly moved onto to reading. Next was English. I started a poem. Later on I went to my mums work. Me and my sister were there. My mum wanted alone time so that’s why she put me there. I really enjoyed it. I think she needed to some jobs too.  Oh she also went to see her friend but her friend wasn’t there so she went back to the house. After that I did my maths. Later on I’m going to do the cleaning. That’s my day for you bye. By Orla.

Kitchen Science

Hi, we had good fun today doing some experiments!

We made the fizzy lava lamp and it was just like a volcano! It fizzled right over the jar.

Then we made the lava jar. It was bubbling away and really cool.

The witches brew was good fun aswell. I thought it would fizz over the top.

I did maths and read 2 books too. I am getting much better at my reading now.

Twiggy My 🐈

Hello Team Holywood how is everyone?

This is Twiggy, my cat 🐈. Today I am going to tell you a bit about her.

  • Twiggy is a year old! ( Seven in cat years!)
  • She is very playful and loves to explore.
  • Sometimes, ( if she’s in the house and mummy is hoovering)    She will sleep peacefully when the Hoover is on.
  • She purrs like a tractor!!!! 😂😂 and purrs pretty much all the time!
  • Twiggy is sometimes fussy about the meat she gets!

Twiggy meows by the door to go out and when we open the door she just stairs at you like “ seriously”. 😑 she likes to play in the long grass in the field. Twiggy likes sleeping on the windowsill, a cushion, and a chair with a blanket. Her favourite thing to do is chasing the birds. 🕊she also likes to chase shrews and mice🐀. She likes to play IT she pats our leg and then runs off!😀

Bye!!! Oriana
