Lemon Clock

Today I have done an experiment using lemons to power a clock.

We did this from a set, that contained a small digital clock, two sticks of zinc and three pieces of wire. We had to do is chop the lemon in half. Then we had to get two forks and stick them in both lemon halves. Next, we put the zinc sticks in each lemon half and connected the red wire to 1 of the forks and the black wire to 1 of the zinc sticks on the other lemon half then we connected both these wires to the clock. Then we attached the white wire to the remaining zinc stick and fork. Finally, we Sellotaped the wires in place and the clock started working!

So how does it work?

The forks acts like positive electrodes in a battery. They are plated with metal which doesn’t react as much as the zinc does. When the forks and zinc plates are put into the lemon, a chemical reaction happens. Electrons create a negative charge which moves from the zinc plates to the forks to make a current this switching on the clock. Lemon juice helps conducts electricity this can also be done with potatoes and grapefruit.

Here are my pictures of my potato and lemon clock.

wishes

If I had three wishes they would be

1. To be a millionaire so I can help friends and family.
2. Buy a brand-new car that has a lot of diesel so we can travel further to see friends with out filling up the car with diesel.
3. I would also like to own a clay pigeon shooting range so dad and I can go shooting whenever we want.

What would your wishes be?

Bike Box Championship 🐺

Caspian is back from a packed day experimenting with flying bears and empty boxes. The flying bear experiment was where I made a jet pack (empty bottles) and went to a high spot then tried a few times to gauge length of flight. Once I threw it on the roof and it was just luck it flew back down! My other experiment was seeing how many boxes the bike could knock down in one go. I knocked all of them down. It was great fun. Mark created a treasure hunt for Tanith and I while Mum made my cake.  Mark and I also helped Tanith more with riding her bike, she is still struggling to balance. I will see you again tomorrow. 🐺

Flying Astronaut Bear 🐻👨‍🚀

Hello

I had a lovely day. I made a rocket suit for my teddy and saw how high he could fly. Caspian made the rocket launchers.

I studied ladybirds and found two in my garden. I had a day off from maths today so I could spend a day with nature.

Tuesday 28th April

Today I started off playing in the garden and colouring in in my tent. After that mum and I looked at french words for numbers. I have been practising saying numbers 1-20 in french. It was funny saying it in french.

Then I was on Sumdog and did adding and takeaway.

I decided to do my reading on Oxford Owl today instead. I like hearing the story then trying to read it myself. I spent ages on the laptop looking at different books. My favourite story was about Horses.

Esmae blog

Hi everybody today I did my writing tasks. I had to write about a camping trip.

I also did the maths task where I had to find out the cheapest place was to buy Ingredients for cheesecake from asda tescho sainburys and morrisons. I couldnt get on morrisons site. Tescho didn’t have any icing sugar because of the corona virus so I couldn’t find the price of it.

So it was between asda and sainburys The total for asda was  £7.02 and sainburys was 8.95. The cheapest was asda. By esmae
