Dear Darling Readers…. Hi! I hope you have all had a good day! If not, then have a good rest of the day!!!! Or Night, because for all I know your Reading this at Midnight!!!! 0w0

The Fair Trade Coffee Afternoon and Evening were really successful!!!! Apart from the people manning the Cake Stall, everyone got 1 cake!(because the people at the Cake stall nicked at least 2-3 X3) The total of the Donations that people gave came to £131.00, which is amazing if you think about it! So many people donated and everyone is very grateful for their Contributions, The money will soon be sent off in a check to The Fair Trade Foundation. Thanks if you are Reading and donated!!!!

With Miss Dale we are doing Magnets! We have been putting together a Poster in a pair or a Group of 3 to make a Poster all about them and we have been adding information about different Sizes, Shapes and Strengths of Magnets! It also includes all our investigations we have done on Magnets, so we have been working on these for about 2-3 weeks? Anyway Miss Dale wants them finished so we better hurry and get them done! We are doing them on Posters and on the Computers…. So yeah….

Next week we are on Holiday!!!! Parents beware! Kids will be recking havoc around the house in the next 2 weeks!!!!

Pokémon at Holywood

we are allowed to play the Pokémon card game and there will be no one crying because they trades the wrong card because they signed up to the Pokémon rules and they need to agree with it. If they don’t agree they can not play the card game or trade. and if you moan you will not be able to play with others

learning at holywood

at holywood p.5-7 are finishing of the stuff that need finish like the magnet poster and two or three weeks ago we done a tech challenge we had to make a spoon slow down cause then we were doing gravity.

We have now finished our work on fair trade and we have had our coffee afternoon last Wednesday and just from that afternoon/evening we raised £131 pounds just from the donations so that was amazing we did not expect that much money just from a coffee afternoon/evening.

Excellence for Headship Course

Pupils asked me to blog about my training course earlier this week – I think they were trying to get their own back for weekly blogs about learning!

The two day residential was designed to make Head teachers reflect on their approach as a leader and how they take their school forward. Time to read and discuss important issues affecting education at this moment.

One of the most interesting parts of the day was on Monday evening when Sue Brookes spoke about her leadership role at the Polmont Young Offenders Remand Centre. She spoke about the practical ways they help young men get back on track. She spoke about the need for schools to look at the wider curriculum – life skills and practical skills as well as maths and language skills.

I met some very interesting head teachers from as far away as Orkney and Shetland – but it was very nice to come home to Holywood on Wednesday!

More work still to do – I am sure I’ll keep you posted!

Miss Dale

Coffee afternoon

Today we (P5-7) At Holywood are hosting a Fairtrade coffee afternoon and it will be in the green house. The community council have helped us raise money for this.

It Is something we hope you will find the time to come to. There will be a box to put donations in. Tesco have helped us to get some Fairtrade food items to start off with.

We hope you can come to our Fairtrade event this afternoon.

fair trade !!!

The last couple of weeks we have been working on fair trade we have been going to places like tescos and making posters to learn more about it. We are hosting a event about fair trade we will be selling home made cakes and warm drinks. we will also tell people that come to the advent about fair trade and what it means . There will also be a fair trade quiz so you can show what you know about fair trade. We are very excited about the event and hope a lot of people come .

fair-trade

we have done fair trade for the past 3 to 4 weeks and I have learned a lot of things about fairtrade and here are some facts about fairtrade

They make bananas, coffee, tea, chocolate  from Columbia and brazil.

fair trade Coffee afternoon at holywood primary

This Wednesday we are having coffee  afternoon from 2:00 to 3:00 and 5:30 to 6:30 after school  and all of the cakes  and the coffee are fair trade

why are you doing this : because we are raising money to help farmers in other country’s to have running water and a home and to send there children to school without fair trade farmers wouldn’t have a home and they wouldn’t send there children to get water miles and miles away  instead of doing there home work  and then getting in to trouble
