day 1 of swimming

p3-7 went swimming at the ice bowl today we did not go yesterday because we went to sandy hills . The person that teaches us  for the next two weeks will be Debbie . In the group is me Braiden  Keira Jack Ryan Hayden and Kye . We learned how to float like a star a pencil and sausage . The pool was a wee bit cold and very deep it was up to my neck !! We got mini buses there and back I was on the bus with Keira . I had great fun .

New Science Topic!!!

This week we started a new topic about living things. we talked about  classification (this means grouping) we sorted our selves into  groups by eye colour, age, attached ear lobes  and tongue rolling.

 Did you know?

Miss dale has attached ear lobes and she can roll her tongue!

I have un attached ear lobes and I can roll my tongue !

we also looked at variables (this means differences)

we are undertaking seed growing experiments with variables such as  light/dark, wet/dry, hot/cold, soil/no soil, fertilizer/non-fertilizer.

I chose my variable as wet/dry.

I used two paper towels placed 20 seeds on each

I collected 25 mls of water for one  towel.

I used fertilizer on both towels.

I predict that the towel that is wet towel will grow.

Jack Storey’s Cress Experiment

Today we were doing cress experiments as part of our topic on variables. I predicted for my experiment that the cold water would make cress grow faster than if it was watered with boiling water.

Experiment With Miss Stuart And Miss Dale

Today we have been making an experiment. My experiment is to see if crest will grow with out soil. For my experiment I am using 1 paper towel 20 crest seeds and 25ML of Fertilizer. Here is my method, first you have to put 25ML of fertilized water in a measuring jug. Now get a paper towel and count 20 crest seeds, place the 20 seeds in the middle of the paper towel and pour the fertilized water gently over the seeds then place the wet paper towel in a plastic cup and put in a fridge to keep it looking “Cooool.”

We are looking at variables. For etc. Fertilizer or no fertilizer, soil or no soil, water or no water. There are some examples of variables.

Plant experiment at Holywood

today we done a variable experiment mine was height and light I put my cup of 20 seeds on top of a really tall book shelf that is big as me holding my hand up.in my words my prediction it will grow a little bit because it won’t get enough air.

” Soil Or No Soil? “

Will it grow with no soil I think not, but lets wait and se!    What you will need: Soil,50ml of water,40 seeds and a pot.

Method with soil:

First put soil in a pot.

Then Bury 20 seeds in the soil.

Now fill the pot with 25ml of water .

Method without soil:

First put 20 seeds in a pot.

Then put 25ml of water in the pot.

plant experiment

We at HolyWood are doing an experiment all abut plants, I personally think nothing is going to happen well, I think other people don’t think so. We all have different  opinions! I am doing hot and cold and am great where for it as well and my cold place is the staff mini fridge. Cool isn’t it?
