kites

my reading book at school is kites we are making a display in the corridor .kites  were invented in china over 2000 years ago we get all different shapes and sizes . some people in china make big dragon ones for parades . tip small kites are suited to smaller winds and larger kites in large wind . never fly a kite in a thunder storm !!! . how to make a kite what you need : tape/string/ a stick glue two straight pieces of stick .1 ask an adult to make a deep notch in each end of the dowel sticks .the notches should fall in the same direction . 2 tie the two sticks together to make a cross ad tape or a dab of glue to make the joint strong . 3 cut a piece of  string long enough to make the diamond shape around the kite . stretch the string around one side of the kite from top to bottom and then stretch it around the other side of the kite from bottom to top . make sure the string sits firmly in each notch.  4  secure the string at the top of the kite by winding it around the stick a few times . the frame must be taut but not so tight that the sticks bend .5 tape the frame to the paper cut the paper about 3cm larger than the  frame cut a wedge at each point so the paper folds easily over the frame . 6 glue the paper to the frame. leave the glue to dry for a day  7 attach colours or paper strips to the string to make a tail . 8 cut a piece of string about 120cm long and attach the string above the intersection of the two sticks. wind the other line around the winder.
