Today we were debating – Should we put on school uniform?
And this is what Olivia said – ‘get more pencil skirts’.
Others thought:
It makes you a part the team.
You look the same – its boring.
School uniform is dull .
Its so uncomfortable , it’s itchy .
Its’ not neat .
It would be nice to wear some thing different for a change.
You don’t have to worry about picking out clothes for school.
Harder to get lost on a trip if you are in school uniform .
Makes you look more like the team.
Every body looks the same .
If on a school trip to know your a part of a team . Repreasents your school.
Own clothes would be wrecked .
Takes longer to choose own clothes.
Miss Dale asked why looking the same or feeling part of the team might be important. Braiden said that sometimes people could get bullied because others didn’t like them – like football strips and supporting different teams.
Others thought that as this didn’t happen at Holywood we should be allowed to not wear uniform. Miss Dale was not persuaded and instead suggested that we have some non uniform days. Keira suggested that we should have a day when boys dressed as girls and girls dressed as boys. Most thought this was a fun idea.
Axel felt very strongly about not liking school uniform and tried to get his group to write more negatives than positives but a good debate looks at both sides of the arguement or question. Axel and his group went back to their discussion and wrote down all the suggestions and views.
What do you think?
My primary school did not have a uniform and lots of children including myself were picked on because we did not have new clothes like everyone else
School uniform is a sign of identification. It is good to wear uniform when going for school trips
School uniform makes all children look smart and tidy and a great representative of the school!
I think school uniform is a good thing for all pupils and I also think that Non Uniform Days is a very good idea and would give you a chance a few times a year to have some fun ! eg fancy dress etc !
School uniform is smart , everyone looks the same no one feels left out or that someone else has better than them , the uniform also keeps you safe when you are on school trips as you are all identifiable by your school logo , a lost child with a uniform is easier to find than a child with normal clothing on , i also agree that it does represent being part of a team and proudly shows of how great your school is as a group of children as well , i think a dress as you please day would be good but i also think it has to be earned so for instance maybe for good behaviour or everyone listening well or helpfullness being kind and respecting each other there are loads but it is a very gud idea 🙂
I used to wear school uniform all the time and liked wearing it because it made me look smart and tidy. Plus you didnt get your own clothes messy or dirty.
