Thank You

We are sad to say that our last day of term was also the last day on placement for Mrs. Jen Carruthers who has been a super student with us all year. We know that the boys and girls will miss Mrs. Carruthers just as much as the staff will and we would like to thank her for all her hard work in our Nursery.
For those coming back to Nursery next year, Mrs. Carruthers has very kindly bought us a lovely outdoor table with a sand tray incorporated (she has even provided the sand) so we look forward to using that next year and would like to thank her for her generosity.
We hope that you all have a lovely summer holiday with your families and that the sun shines for you. We still have a few photos to share and I will put them on the blog over the next week or two so keep your eyes peeled for those.

Goodbye

Miss Calvert, our Childhood Studies student, finished her placement with us yesterday. As part of her course she made instruments with the children to use outdoors so we thought that we would share a few photos with you of her activity.
No doubt Miss Calvert will be missed by the children but she will be back in Nursery next term on her final placement so we look forward to seeing her again soon.

Welcome

miss-a-150x150We are delighted to welcome Miss Awde back to the Nursery team after her maternity leave. She will be in Nursery every Friday and is looking forward to getting to know lots of new children.
We would also like to thank Mrs. Shaw for her great contribution to our team while she has been covering Miss Awde’s leave for the past few months.

Welcome

natAs well as Mrs. Carruthers and Miss Calvert, we have a student who started with us last week and will be attending our Nursery every Wednesday. Miss Natalia Franecka is an NC Early Education and Childcare student from Dumfries College and we look forward to her placement in our Nursery all year. Welcome to our Nursery Natalia. We hope that you enjoy your time with us.

Welcome

miss-cWe would like to welcome Miss Ashleigh Calvert to our Nursery on placement. She is a fourth year B.A. (Hons) student in Childhood Studies at the University of West Scotland.
Miss Calvert will be here for the next week or two and then will return in February for her final placement. She has enjoyed getting to know the children this week and is looking forward to the rest of her time with us.

Nursery Placement

Olivia’s family has been hearing about our student whom we welcomed to Nursery this week:

“Olivia came in and told us there was a new Mrs Carruthers in nursery but that she had long gold hair! I’m sure Jen will love her placement in nursery, I love how you just never know what they are going to come out with next! All part of the fun! 🙂”

I did wonder if the children might use the titles ‘Old Mrs. Carruthers’ and ‘Young Mrs. Carruthers’ but well done Olivia for telling your family about Mrs. Carruthers with the “long gold hair”. We feel sure that Mrs. Carruthers will thoroughly enjoy playing with all the children in Nursery.

Welcome

studentWe would like to welcome Mrs. Jen Carruthers to our team. She will be on placement in Nursery Mondays and Tuesdays all day as well as Thursday mornings as part of her SVQ Childcare course linked to Dumfries and Galloway College.
We hope that Mrs. Carruthers enjoys her placement with us this year and that the children don’t get too confused with having two Mrs. Carruthers in Nursery.

Proud Parent

Dylan’s family has left a comment about our recent graduation:

“We had a lovely morning at the Graduation ceremony, brought a wee tear to my eye watching all the children sing and was so proud to see how confident Dylan was as he walked up onto the stage to receive his certificate. He has had a wonderful year at nursery and we would like to thank all the staff for all your hard work, helping him to grow and develop into the confident little boy that he has become, helping him get ready for P1, you all do such a fantastic job. Dylan will miss you all, and we will bring him back to visit 😀 xxxxxxx”

Thank you so much for your kind comment. We all felt very proud of the children too and hope that we will still see lots of them at school events and in the town.

Baby Talk

One of the Health and Wellbeing learning outcomes at Early Level is to show an awareness of the tasks required to look after a baby so we thought that there could be no better way to find out about this than to invite Miss Awde in to Nursery with her beautiful little baby. The morning children had lots of good questions for Miss Awde as they thought about the differences between themselves and a baby.
Miss Awde and Devon are coming back in this week to visit the afternoon children so they will be able to ask any questions they may have then. Thank you Devon for being a super visitor and for bringing your Mummy with you. We are looking forward to seeing you again soon.
