Tomorrow (Friday 18th March) is the second of Eileen’s Family Learning Easter activity days. It looked like those in the first sessions had lots of fun so I’m sure that those going tomorrow will enjoy what Eileen has planned. Sessions are 9.00-9.45 or 2.15-3.00 in the Family Learning room across from the school hall.

Easter Crafts
We would like to remind you that tomorrow is the first session of Eileen’s Easter craft activities. Sessions will be in the Family Learning Room at 11.00-11.45 and 12.15-1.00. We hope that you all have good fun.
Decorated Eggs
Sophie’s Mum has been looking at the photos of the eggs the children decorated for the Easter competition:
“sophie loved making these easter chicks it was great fun”
We thought that there were so many fantastic eggs, it must have been very difficult to choose a winner. We were delighted that so many of our families took part and we hope that you all enjoyed doing this together at home.
Easter Egg Extravaganza
There was a great response to the recent competition to decorate boiled eggs for Easter. So many fantastic eggs appeared that an extra table had to be found to display all the Nursery and Primary 1 entrants. Well done to the Nursery prize winner, who you can see here with her prize, and to everyone who took the time to enter the competition. We thought that your ideas were wonderful and wanted to share a selection of them with you all. Can you spot your egg in the photos below?
Easter In Poland
The morning children recently enjoyed a visit from Suzie’s Mum who told us all about how Easter is celebrated in Poland. Some of the traditions are similar to ours, such as Easter cards and decorated boiled eggs, but her family also makes decorations for their home and the church is usually decorated with flowers. We loved some of the decorations that Suzie’s great aunt made from paper and it was very kind of her to make us a beautiful bird to display in Nursery. Suzie’s family in Poland take food to church in a decorated basket and, once the food has been blessed, it is part of a big celebration meal which normally includes ham and eggs.
We would like to thank Suzie’s Mum for taking the time to talk to us about Easter in Poland. It was very interesting for children and staff.
Pancake Day
We couldn’t let Pancake Day pass without a mention so the children have been finding out a little about what it signifies. The thought of forty days until Easter certainly sparked some interest and discussion as the children realised that this meant forty days until Easter eggs arrived. They did also show some understanding of what pancakes were made of and why we have them.
Watching a pancake race on the Promethean board inspired some to have fun trying out pancake tossing themselves and lots of children told us that they were having pancakes at home tonight so we hope that you all enjoyed Pancake Day.
Corey’s Egg
It’s good to see that some of you are enjoying looking at the blog in the holidays. Corey’s family was pleased to see his photo with his decorated egg:
“Well done Corey you made a beautiful egg you were very proud of this and so you should be great job x”
We hope that you’re all enjoying your Easter holidays and will see you all soon.
Easter Egg Extravaganza
Eggs that had been transformed into bees, policemen, trains, rabbits … glittery eggs and painted eggs … the variety was amazing in our Easter egg display. Here’s a taster of some of the ideas brought in to Nursery. Well done to everyone who made such a fantastic effort – we loved them all.
Happy Easter
What a fantastic display of decorated eggs we had in Nursery last week thanks to all your efforts at home. We were delighted that nearly every child had spent time with their families decorating eggs and we all enjoyed talking about the different ideas on display. Mrs. Kelly was so impressed that she brought Primary 4/3 to Nursery to see our display. We gave them a few ideas for decorating their own eggs and they were certainly full of compliments for our efforts.
Click on the photos below to see some of the children’s super eggs. We hope that you are all enjoying your holidays and wish everyone a Happy Easter.
What size is your egg?
We talked about Easter celebrations this week and got excited talking about our favourite Easter eggs. We all shared ideas to work out which Easter eggs were the smallest and the biggest in the magic bag. The children holding the eggs were nearly dizzy moving about to get our Easter egg line in the right order. In the end, everyone agreed that we had managed to get them in order from the smallest to the biggest. Good teamwork Nursery children!
