Please remember to meet us at Farmer’s Den tomorrow, Monday 19th June. Everyone can bring their teddy to keep them company while we have a rest from soft play. We will have a soft start to our morning session as usual between 8.45 and 9.10. We ask that you collect your children at 11.45. Afternoon children should arrive at 12.15 and can be collected between 3.00 and 3.15. There will be no charge to parents for this visit as the Hecklegirth Fundraisers have kindly offered to pay for our visit which is a very generous gesture. We hope that the children are looking forward to a fun session.
The Buddies Visit India
Our children were very excited to hear that some familiar faces were going to visit us to sample our Indian activities as part of Multicultural Week. Primary 6 buddies are always very welcome visitors to Nursery and all our children look up to them with great affection.
Our Indian snacks seemed very popular and it was lovely to see such careful work being produced on the mehndi hands as well as the happy smiles on the faces of those who tried out the Indian dancing. As always, we loved having you to visit Primary 6. Thank you for taking part in our activities.
Award Winners
A Journey To Australia
Today it was the turn of the morning children to go on their travels with their passport as part of Multicultural Week. Australia was our destination up in Primary 3/4 where we were entertained by a cartoon of the story of Waltzing Matilda. We learned lots of new words and joined in the song with P3/4.
We were very proud of our Nursery children who behaved beautifully on their travels and showed that they had listened well to the story. Thanks go to Primary 3/4 for being such welcoming hosts. We enjoyed our visit.
Travelling The World
Armed with our passport, the afternoon children headed off to Italy yesterday. It was situated in the Primary 3 classroom for our Multicultural Week and the children of P3 entertained us with a wonderful number song in Italian and some interesting facts about Italy. They then kindly helped our children to design their own pizza from craft materials which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you to Primary 3 for inviting us to Italy and for stamping our passport.
We had to make a speedy return journey to Nursery (also known as India for this week’s activities) as Primary 2 were travelling our way. Just like the Nursery children, they seemed to enjoy our experiences of India as they designed mehndi hands, tasted different Indian foods and dressed up in authentic Indian clothes to perform a traditional dance. Thank you Primary 2 for taking part so enthusiastically in our activities. We loved having you to visit and hope that your short stay in India was a good one.
Tesco Tasters
We have had a busy afternoon as part of our Multicultural Week, starting with the children tasting a range of breads and cheeses from different countries. We were delighted that most children were confident to taste something new and, as you can see, they gave this experience a big ‘thumbs up’.
Can You Spot Your Stone?
The children who recently brought stones to Nursery as part of our Multicultural Week activities have started to paint them today. It’s not too late to bring a stone in if you would like to be part of the whole school display in the nature area at the end of the week. We think that these first stones look super and hope that lots more children join in with this activity. I wonder if anyone can spot their own stone here?
Buddies Meet Our Families
Primary 6 buddies are making such a good job of building relationships with their new little friends that our children are growing in confidence every time they visit Primary 1 or the school playground.
The buddies very kindly took the time to write letters to their Nursery child’s family so that they know a little about them and they have recently introduced themselves to their parents/carers. We hope that this has eased any of the worries you may have had about your child moving to Primary 1 and that you enjoy sharing the letters with your children.
Thank you Primary 6 children for doing a super job. You certainly are responsible citizens and effective contributors!
Multicultural Week
As next week is Multicultural Week, we would like to remind the children to bring in a pebble or stone so that they can decorate it. This is a whole school activity and those who bring stones to paint will have them displayed in the school grounds to represent us all as a community who are unique and different.
Buddy Time
