An Afternoon at Farmer’s Den

As promised, here is a selection of photos of the afternoon children enjoying all the different activities on our recent visit to Farmer’s Den. I have included a photo of their teddies too so the boys and girls can see if they can spot their teddy having a little rest after chasing those bubbles. Click then click again for a closer look.

Singing Award

Orla’s family is delighted with her recent certificate:

“Thank you for Orla’s award. She was really excited about receiving it for her singing. We hope she sings loudly at the graduation. Many thanks.”

I’m sure you will be impressed when you watch Orla performing on Monday. She has been singing beautifully and making a super effort when we practise.

End of Year Questionnaire

Thank you very much to those parents who have completed our end of year questionnaire. As we are collating the results to build on progress for next year, it would be greatly appreciated if parents could return these to Nursery as soon as possible if they have not already done so. We value your opinions and the more parents who return the questionnaire, the clearer a picture we have of all your views. Thank you.

Farmer’s Den Fun

We would like to say a huge thank you to the HFA for paying for all the Nursery children to have a session at Farmer’s Den to celebrate our year in Nursery. Not only did the children run, jump and climb with boundless energy but they enjoyed a snack with their teddies and took some time out to draw and build when they needed a little rest. Those special teddies also had great fun trying to catch the bubbles from the bubble machine that was turned on after our little picnic so it was a busy day for all. I wonder if anyone can spot their teddy having a little rest on the settee in one of our photos?
Thank you to all those who have contributed to the HFA fundraising activities this year as you helped the Nursery children have a super session at Farmer’s Den. These photos show the morning children having fun. Photos of the afternoon session will be posted soon.

Farmer’s Den

Please remember to meet us at Farmer’s Den tomorrow, Monday 20th June. Everyone can bring their teddy for a teddy bear’s picnic while we have a rest from soft play. We will have a soft start to our morning session as usual between 8.45 and 9.10. We ask that you collect your children at 11.45. Afternoon children should arrive at 12.15 and can be collected between 3.00 and 3.15.
There will be no charge for this visit as the HFA has kindly offered to pay for our visit which is a very generous gesture. We hope that the children are looking forward to a fun session.

Outdoor Learning

“Building the Curriculum 2: active learning in the early years, 2007” says ‘All aspects of the curriculum can be explored outside. The sights, sounds and smells of the outdoors, the closeness to nature, the excitement most children feel, the wonder and curiosity all serve to enhance and stimulate learning.’

Our outdoor area is certainly popular all year round, regardless of weather, but when the sunshine comes out, nearly all children choose to spend most of their Nursery session in the garden exploring a range of activities. As you can see, the children demonstrate great imagination and teamwork in the play they create. Dens are built, gross and fine motor skills are developed, a fantastic range of meals is created in the mud kitchen and, of course, there are always jobs to do like watering the plants and painting the house. We hope that you enjoy this little gallery of the afternoon children busy learning in the summer sunshine.

Butterfly Thoughts

The Sunshine Room children have also had discussions about where our butterflies might have gone when we left them on the flowers. We would like to share their thoughts.

Lexi: to a nest.

Neve: to some sandcastles.

Wareeshah: to a flower for food.

Lucy: they might go to a shop – it might be a perfume shop.

Henley: they’ll go to get fruit from Tesco.

Mollie: if it rains a leaf roof would shelter them.

Gabriel: they go to a butterfly house made of flowers.

Harper: to butterfly world.

Tom: somewhere warm. Maybe in a hole in a tree.

Hannah: to a flower garden.

Courtney: in a shed.

Erica: to the beach.

Ellie: to a house.

Aoife: in a tree.

What lovely ideas the Sunshine children had. We hope that our butterflies are safe and happy.
