Blythswood Care – building wells in India
On Saturday 23rd February the pupils in P.5,6,7, held a coffee morning and art exhibition. This was what the pupils decided to do for their challenge to make £20 GROW into something bigger. Blythswood Care challenged the children to raise money to help towards building water wells in villages in India. They decided to ask Janey’s mum and Dad if we could use the dining-room of their hotel in Castle Douglas for the venue, to host a cooffee morning and exhibition of some of their art work from throughout the school session. They also made Indian style beaded bracelets and hairbraids to sell. Charlotte made a giant cupcake to raffle, Georgia and Henry sold Scottish sweet packs from their parents business, and we made a well for donations to go in. We also had a photo competition for people to enter which cost £1 per entry. A very successful morning was had by all and we raised:
£380.59
Well done and thank you to everyone who baked, and helped us on the day.

It was a lot of fun. I can’t believe we raised that amount of money! I hope Blythswood will give us an award. I wish that some of those tasty looking cakes were left over….
