Burns Competition

A huge well done to Madelaine, Charlotte, Millie, Joseph, Kasey, Gabriella and Jay who competed today in the Regional Burns Competition at Dumfries Academy.  Everyone received excellent feedback – we are very proud of you all!

A special well done to Gabriella who was placed third for playing a lovely Scots medley on the piano.

A huge well done to Charlotte who was placed second for her medley of Burns songs on her accordion – fantastic! Charlotte will now represent the school and region at the National finals in Falkirk. Well done Charlotte!

Great work everyone!

Fun maths!

P1 had fun today learning about how long things take. We counted in elephants (1 elephant, 2 elephants…) And timed how long it took to do different tasks like: write your first name 5 times, run to the other end of the playground and sing Happy Birthday. We had a great time!

Money Money Money!

Today we had money activities.  We were working in groups. We worked with P2/3/4.

Station 1 was the shop. Station 2 was a matching game.  Station 3 was writing £ and p on whiteboards.  Station 4 was counting amounts using Numicon. Station 5 was the teaching station.  Station 6 was the worksheet station.  At station 7 we went on the computers.  Station 8 was money dominoes.  Station 9 was counting money from a piggy Bank.

“I like it because we were learning different stuff and learning different amounts.” Hannah

“I liked the computers because I like the prices on it and the different amounts of money.” Eva

“I liked counting the money.” Josh

Read Write Count

On Friday, children in P1, P2 and P3 will receive their Read, Write, Count bags.  Today P1/2, P2/3/4 and P6/7 worked together and had some shared reading time to become more familiar with the books in each bag.  This was a great opportunity for all children to practise their reading skills.
