School Meals
Calside Primary School benefits from having the Schools Meals service onsite. They provide a range of healthy and nutritious meals daily. The menus are set by the Catering Service, and can be found here. School meals are ordered via the D&G Online Ordering system. Parents are provided with a logon for this system.
Free school meals are available to support families who live and attend a school in Dumfries and Galloway and who are in receipt of qualifying benefits. All Primary 1-5 pupils currently receive free school meals. Further information about free school meals, and application forms can be found here.
Packed Lunches
Parents may choose to provide a packed lunch from home, and we encourage parents/carers to follow the advice in our Healthy Snack and Packed Lunch guidance. This guidance was developed in line with NHS guidelines, and in conjunction with the Pupil Council’s work on Healthy Eating: Calside Healthy Snack and Packed Lunch Guidance February 2024
For safety reasons pupils should not bring glass containers in their lunch box. Fizzy drinks and highly coloured sweets are not conducive to learning and should be discouraged. Water, diluted juice or fresh juice are preferable. We have water fountains in school to allow the children to top up regularly! Ice packs are recommended to keep the packed lunch cool.
Home Lunch
Pupils may leave school and have lunch at home. If this is your preferred option, the school office will need to be informed of arrangements.
