ICT Coding

During Thursday’s  ICT lesson we learnt about event handlers and created our own Flappy Bird game using them. Some of us got very creative and changed our games to make them more fun and unique. Next time we hope to try out different event handlers and play each other’s games. We are getting very confident at this coding business now. ☺

Blood

This week we have been learning about blood. In our co-operative groups we did some research and then taught each other about our component. Blood is made up of red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and plasma.

Here we are researching, teaching and making our own blood models. It’s been a busy week! We plan to sing a song about blood at our assembly on Thursday too – don’t miss it!

Poetry

We have been learning about poetry and different poetic features in Literacy and Language.  We have looked at riddles, practised tongues twisters and made up nonsense poems. In groups we performed a poem about the water-cycle. We acted out the lines of the poem by using our bodies and our voices. This helped us to explore and understand the imagery of the poem and bring it to life!

Dotty pop art

Aimee and Klara updating the blog!

P4 have been learning about the work of Roy Lichtenstein the artist.  We made our own self-portraits in the style of his art work.  We learnt a lot about him and the colours he liked to use.   The colours were red, yellow and blue which are the three primary colours.  He liked putting dots on his pictures, he normally put it on faces but very close together so it looked like one colour.  He liked to paint real things and cartoon characters.  He was born in America in New York. He also died in America. It was really really really really fun.

Fit Thursday Fun

Today was another busy fit Thursday! We enjoyed lots of different activities and sports including basketball, football, parkour, korfball, Zumba and boccia. We had a great day and didn’t even complain about playing football in the rain!

Thanks to Mr McCormack for organising another action packed day for us all!

Time

We are exploring time in maths at the moment. We have been learning to tell and show o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to times on analogue and digital clocks. We’ve also been working together to solve simple time problems.

Paper cut-outs

This week we looked at and discussed the work of Henri Mattise. We really liked his collages and made some of our own. We thought about a design then cut up paper to make interesting shapes. We moved our cut-outs around on our paper until we found an arrangement we liked then stuck them down.

World Book Day Fun

For World Book Day we all dressed up in fantastic costumes and took part in different activities.

We listened to an interesting talk about books, drew our favourite characters from our class novel ‘Cakes in Space’, answered questions in a book quiz, got up on stage for a costume parade and went ‘thing finding’ like Pippi Longstocking from our last class book. We found some interesting items and made up unusual stories about them.

Thank you to Louise, Mrs Foote, Mrs MacPhail and Derrian from Dundee United for reading to us – what a treat!! 😊
