Travel Active 16/5/11

We were very lucky to have a visit from Claire and Kirsty from Travel Active on Monday. They taught us lots of ways in which we could be more active when we travel and the benefits this would have on our health.
We would like to say a big thank you to Claire and Kirsty because we are having lots of fun challenging our family and friends to be more active with us.

We discussed how we travel to school everyday.

We made a travel trail map

Claire & Kirsty gave us a quiz at the end.

Sunshine Room Round 2

P4/5 collected the most Positive Behaviour Tokens last week out of the whole Upper School. As a reward we got to spend 30 minutes having fun and playing games in the Sunshine Room.

This is the second time you have made it to the Sunshine Room because of your positive behaviour. Well Done P4/5 Miss McKay is very proud of you all! Keep it up!

Maths

I just done this because I was bored I’m going to give you some questions and you can leave them in the comments NO COPYING! These sums are easy for me and I hope these will make your brain go whizzing down to your toes and here they are

543+623=? 621+789=? 936+324=?
1024+589=? 546+2034=? 8009+4326=?

Now subtracting
465-53=? 5719-531=? 6213-73=?

Is this making you hit your computer screen why not take a break.

More adding and subtacting well let’s go on to 3 digit numbers here is some other tricky sums try these

532+723-724=? 8000+538-714=? 1739+728-462=?

First day back at School

Well that is our first day back at School finished and I would like to say well done P4/5! Most of us have remembered our Class Promises and we have had a lovely day sharing holiday news and doing some Maths revision.

P4/5 like to play a game we call “On the Bus”

Your task this week is to explain this game to friends and family and leave a comment with an “On the Bus” Challenge for us.
Here is the first challenge to get us started (leave your answer in the comments box)

The bus starts it’s journey with 64 people and at the first stop 19 people get off, then at the second stop 8 people get on, at the third stop 26 get off and at the last stop  13 people get on. How many people are left on the bus?

Old Games V New Games

We have been thinking about board games as part of our learning about Dens Road’s Centenary. We have been discussing how games have moved on and been developed over the years.
We are going to start with good old Snakes and Ladders. Today we played it in groups the original way with the board game, at the table and also interactively on the Promeathean board.

Tomorrow we will debate:  Snakes and Ladders (old school) V Snakes and Ladders (new school)

Red nose day

I hope everybody is looking forward to red nose day and everybody is trying to get a red nose and we are having a talent show leave in the comments what kind of act your doing it could be telling jokes, dancing, singing or even dancing singing and telling jokes after you sing and dance wonder who is going to win

Do Something Funny for Money!

Dens Road PS are having a talent show on Friday 18th March for Comic Relief. Each class can enter one act and I know that P4/5 is bursting at the seams with talent so I can’t wait to hear all your suggestions and ideas. Let’s make it as original and unique as possible!

Post any ideas or suggestions you have and we will discuss them in class.

THURSDAY 17TH MARCH

We held auditions for the talent show today and WOW what a talented class we have. We had signing, dancing, comedians and even a ventriloquist act! I wish I could put you all throught to the Red Nose Day Talent Show tomorrow because you were all fantastic but we only have time for one act per class. We had a class vote and it was very close but the winners were the very fabulous “Disco Divas” Well Done girls.

FRIDAY 18TH MARCH- RED NOSE DAY

Well done to all who took part in the “Dens Road’s Got Talent” Contest! You were all fantastic! I have to say that I am so very proud of “The Disco Divas” for putting on such a wonderful dance performance but also for the way you have organised and planned the whole act all by yourselves. As you all know Miss McKay can’t dance very well so it was down to you to choreograph the whole thing. Very well done girls, you definitely deserved your 3rd place award:)

Dens Road Centenary

This Year Dens Road Primary School is 100 years old. This term we are learning about lots of old things like old games and how to play them and how old they are. Please leave a comment and try to find out how old your favorite game is and explain how you play it.
