  Headteacher Update May 2018

Dear Families,

This final term is flying by already! It has been such a super year so far with many successes and achievements.

You may remember this time last year I asked all of the children, staff and families what they thought was great about our school and nursery and what could be improved. Your feedback is very important and it helped us decide what to focus on. I also sent out a ‘You said, We did’ sheet to share this.

Well it is that time of year again and I will soon be sending out an online survey for you to complete (it should only take 5 mins) and I would also like to offer a drop in evening session too. This will be on Tuesday 22nd May from 5.30pm until 6.30pm. I will even provide some snacks! It is yet another opportunity to share your views.

We have worked really hard this session to offer more opportunities for learning to be shared and have taken your views into account.

Here is a reminder!

  • 3 opportunities for visiting classes in the first term (early morning, afternoon and evening)
  • 2 Family Conference Evenings (October and March)
  • Literacy Curriculum evening
  • Health and Well Being Exhibition afternoon (after school)
  • Bullying Policy consultations (early morning and after school)
  • Literacy Leaflet sent home (how you can help)
  • HWB leaflet (what to expect)
  • Termly forecast on Dojo on upcoming learning in each class and how you can support at home
  • Book Gifting Party afternoons
  • Rhyme Time Sharing in the nursery
  • Sharing the Learning afternoons in each class
  • Opportunities to become part of our volunteer team and help with learning in class and on school trips and to the woods etc
  • Open door policy/Dojo messenger to speak to teachers, support team and leadership team at any time. We pride ourselves on how promptly we respond to any concerns you have.

Literacy Curriculum Evening and Health and well being Exhibition

It was wonderful to see so many people at our Literacy Curriculum Evening and also at our Health and Well-being Exhibition!

Everyone should have received the leaflet about how you can help at home in literacy and please find attached the Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood information leaflet. Our approach is based on the national curriculum.

Attendance

Attend today – Achieve tomorrow

I am delighted to find improved attendance for some of our children. Please note, I respectfully ask you write to me to request approval for any absence longer than 2 days. I will then respond with a letter.

Remember – 90% attendance over the course of the year means nearly a month of learning and teaching lost. It is critical children attend school in order to meet the expected standards. Thank you for your continued support with this.
