Headteacher Update

It is the final term of this academic session and I hope you have enjoyed all of the updates shared daily and weekly on Dojo. We have so much to be proud of.

Refurbishment

Finally our new front entrance and access is finished!  It looks wonderful with the reinforced glass panels and steps. I would like to get a photo of the whole school on the steps this term so if you are a keen photographer, or know one, please get in touch with me directly through the school office.  Any help would be appreciated!  Work on our new extended nursery is on track and I am pleased with the progress being made.

Staffing

I am delighted to let you know Mrs Stacey Blair was successful at interview and is now a permanent member of our nursery team. Well done Mrs Blair, we are delighted.

Reporting

We have worked hard in partnership with you to streamline the end of session reports. There was a P7 focus group of parents, there was an opportunity for feedback at parent’s night and we also consulted our Parent Council.  Reports will be issued in June.  However, the end of year report is just one of the many ways we share learning, progress and achievements. Please remember the point of contact for any concerns is always your class teacher or key worker. Then it is Mrs Cartwright, Depute Headteacher then myself.  We will get back to you as soon as possible.

Health and Well being

You may have seen my previous Dojo regarding this.

  1. Only water is allowed in class time. Juice is allowed at lunchtime. Water hydrates and allows for best learning!
    2. No slushies/fizzy juice/energy drinks/sugary snacks are allowed in the school grounds – being full of sugar is not good for learning.
    3. I encourage financial independence but sweeties bought at the shop and eaten during the school hours should be limited. It is fine to have a wee bit of chocolate, crisps or a sweetie at break. Unfortunately I have seen children coming in to school eating sweeties and drinking fizzy juice before 9am. This does not set them up for best learning.
    5. I expect children to be ready for school with pencil cases and other things if they have them (they don’t really need anything at all though as we have everything they need available in school),but all other items should be left at home. For example; toys and cards. Things brought in from home will need to stay in schoolbags as we know they are precious and if something happens to them then it is upsetting.
    6. All children are expected to look after their own belongings and school belongings/environments. I expect to see tidy classrooms at the end of the day by following our school value of respect!

Healthy and happy children make better learners and make better progress! Thank you for your support and I understand some children may have other arrangements in place which I am aware of.

Attendance  – Attend today, Achieve tomorrow.

We continue to be focused on improving attendance. Attendance at school ensures children make progress in line with national expectations. Better attendance means better learning and better progress. I respectfully request you to inform me of any planned absences/holidays.

Parking and dropping off

No parking is allowed on Port Street, Monday – Friday, 8.30 -4pm, in term time.  This includes parking for a short time to drop off your child/children at school or nursery. Our Parent Council are supporting with this and always have up to date and important information on their Facebook page. Please follow them ‘Clackmannan Primary Parent Council’.

Transitions

Nursery parents have received details of our wonderful transition opportunities this term. We are really looking forward to welcoming you in to the school with your children.

School Trips

This year due to our Pupil Equity Funding and the Parent Council dress down days, we have managed to reduce the price of our class trips.
