Problems?

Volunteers

Some of the problems we encountered included volunteers to help create and build the kit car. We only had a few people doing this including Mike Rowley (Kit Car Guru) and Mike’s friend (unknown). We put notes out in the newsletter for some helpers for the Carts and only managed to get one person called Shona. But thankfully we have managed to complete the building and the designing of the Kit Cars. All the helpers that we have had have been so kind in giving up their own time.

Money

A few other problems we had were money. We needed some of it from our sponsors for the materials and the entry fee.  Classes sent out letters for sponsorship and for giving our Kit Cars a ride in a van or trailer to Alford on the race day.  Luckily we got a parent to source a work van to transport our cars, thank you Lucy’s dad.  One of our letters grabbed another parents attention who sent a cheque in to cover the costs our entry.  Thank you to the Fragells.  The for sale signs were given to us by Peterkins solicitors and Stewart at Grampian Graphics let us use scrap vinyl that he had in his workshop.

Kit car

Some of the problems we had with the actual carts, were punctured tyres and even a burst one! Even the timing belt once came off when someone was driving it, but now we have fixed them and they are ready for the race. Also crashes as they could have damaged them, but even with our small crashes, thankfully none of our Carts are broken. The steering was also quite stiff sometimes although it has now been fixed and we can now turn smoothly. To fix these problems we had to buy new tyres and then fit them on. For the timing belt we had to take off the hinge that attaches the wheel, and then fit the timing belt back on.

Racing

During race practise we had some crashes although none of them were bad enough to completely wreck the car.
