P3/4 class blog

As you will be aware this week in school is ‘World of Work Week.’  Therefore there will be no spelling or reading homework issued this week.  I will try to update you throughout the week with the activities we have been participating in.

It may be useful for the children to see the wide range of jobs that people have.  Therefore, if you would like to post a comment below with your current or previous job we will look at and discuss these in class.

This week the following pupils made it into the 50 Club. Well done 😃

Today in class we have been sorting objects and numbers using Carroll diagrams.  This is a game we have been playing to help us.

P3/4 have been learning about the Scottish artist Steven Brown. We looked at and discussed his work, sharing our thoughts and opinions. Everybody liked his collection of “McCoos.” We used what we have learnt about colour to create our very own McCoos using an outline. I’m sure you will agree they look fantastic!

Today we watched an Authors Live event on the smart board.  Today rather than an author, it was an illustrator called Chris Riddell.

Congratulations to all pupils who did a fantastic job of learning their Scots poems.  It was clear to see the effort and time that lots of pupils had spent learning them. Well done.

All pupils have now been issued with new reading books.  From next week P3 will be issued with reading homework on a Wednesday for the following Wednesday.  P4 will be issued with reading homework when it is relevant.  More information about this will follow.

All pupils should have a personal reading book with them in school at all times.
