Aberdeenshire Council promotes the development of a sustainable and self-improving school system.
Individual schools work in collaboration with the lead officers, and each other, within a self-improving school system that:
- Raises attainment and achievement and improves outcomes for all children and young people.
- Enhances learning experiences for children and young people, embedded within Curriculum for Excellence.
- Builds skills in self-evaluation for self-improvement.
- Encourages collaborative working within, between and beyond establishments
- Builds leadership capacity and provides opportunities for system leadership.
- Develops a shared moral purpose and collective responsibility for all children and young people in all our communities across Aberdeenshire.
The fundamental beliefs that underpin this programme are the following:
- Schools and their partners have the expertise and experience to be solution focused by sharing and working together.
- Taking a school partnership approach provides opportunities for leadership development and capacity building throughout our school system.
- Strengthening partnership and collaboration between schools and across local authorities is crucial to releasing and maximising our combined potential.
