Reporting

At Grange we share your child’s learning progress in a variety of formal and informal ways throughout the school session. Here is a calendar of events and activities that will help you understand what this looks like:

Sept / Oct – Settling in meetings

These are informal meetings just as a checkin and catch up to make sure no information has been missed at transition and for the class teacher to share how they have settled into the new session.

November – Progress Update 1

This is when we share the first tracking attainment of the session and this is accessed through Pupil Tracker. Parents create an account using a Pupil ID and unique code when your child joins the school. An email is sent out to inform you when the report / update is available to view. This is used across primary and secondary schools in Angus.

Each learner will be assessed against the level they are currently working within and this will be shown by the first letter / number.

2 – second level

1 – first level

E – Early level

P – Personal Milestones

This is followed by a number to describe how well they are coping with the learning at the stage they are working at.

5 – Exceeding expectations

4 – Meeting expectations

3 – Mostly meeting expectations

2 – Approaching expectations

1 – Not yet meeting expectations

0 – Not assessed

For Progress Updates levels will be given for Reading, Writing, Listening and Talking and Numeracy.

November – Sharing Our Learning Event 5-6.30pm

This is an informal chance to once again visit your child’s class and see what they have been learning. This event takes place in the evening to allow working parents to attend at least one of them in the school year.

February – Learner Led Conference / Parents Evenings (P1&2)

Learner Led Conferences are an opportunity for your child to share how they feel they are progressing with the class teacher to share their achievements and what their next steps are.

In P1&2, it is a parent meeting as it can be quite daunting for our youngest Granger’s to talk infront of the class teacher and their parents. The children do talk about their learning with the class teacher prior to the parents evening and their feedback is shared with you on the night.

February – Progress Update 2

An email is sent out to inform you when the report / update is available to view using the same codes as in Progress Update 1.

March – Sharing Our Learning Event 2-3pm

This is an informal chance to once again visit your child’s class and see what they have been learning. With November’s being held in the evening, the March and June events take place at the end of the school day to allow working parents to attend at least one of them in the school year.

June – Sharing our Learning Event  2-3pm

This is an informal chance to once again visit your child’s class and see what they have been learning. This event is held in the afternoon.

June – End of Year Report

An email will be sent to let you know that your child’s end of year report can be viewed in Pupil Tracking. We report using our Learner Qualities as the themes for learning and within each LQ report on skills for life , learning and work. Tracking codes are given for each curricular area.

In addition to the above, we use Class Dojo portfolios as learning journals where children upload the following 3 x in the school year:

1 x piece of literacy

1 x piece of numeracy

1 x piece of topic / IDL

1 x SHINE moment (achievements in or out of school)

This is to document their progress across the years at Grange and something we encourage parents to comment on.
