I cannot believe we are almost at the end of this school session. We have enjoyed an extremely busy term. Last week we had our transition, preparing for moving up to new classes and teachers. Our P7’s have returned from Monifieth High having had a great week and have enjoyed hearing all their stories!
A huge congratulations to our nursery team but particularly Miss McMahon and Mrs Cumiskey on a very successful Intergenerational event this past weekend between our Nursery and South Grange Care home! Thank you for going above and beyond!
I would like to share a few updates before we head off on our holidays:
STAFF NEWS – We are saying goodbye and good luck to a few members of staff over the next couple of weeks.
Mrs Mentiply is retiring after 43 years. She has been a fantastic crossing patrol lady with a smile on her face everyday, no matter the weather, to ensure the safety of our children at the main gate. She will be sadly missed but we thank her for her time at Grange and wish her all the very best!
We think it would be a fitting tribute to present Mrs Mentiply with a a gift at the end of term. If you wish to donate towards this then please click the link and leave your message and donation by Monday 22nd June.

Mrs Robertson, who has taught at Grange for 21 years, will be retiring on the last day of term. She has been a fantastic colleague and a truly nurturing teacher. During her time at Grange, she has supported many children across the whole school and shown endless care and compassion and without doubt she will be missed by all. I am delighted that she will be able to relax and spend quality time with her family! On behalf of all the children and staff – Thank you Mrs Robertson and we wish you all the very best!
Miss Davies who joined us in January in P2 leaves us to take up a post in an international school in Japan. As a former pupil herself she continues to “Reach of the Stars”. Well done and thank you!
Mrs Watson is taking a career break next session after 26 years with the council. We hope she enjoys whatever the year brings although I am sure she will continue to pop in and visit.
We also have a few new members of staff joining us in August.
Miss Finnie, former pupil and member of staff will be completing her probationary year in Primary 1.
Mr Andrew Mitchell, who has previously worked as a support assistant in a resourced school in Angus also joins us for his probationary year in P3.
Mr Docherty was a student with us 2 years ago and returns to teach P5. Welcome back!
Mrs Lee joins us from Langlands Primary in Forfar and will be teaching P2 next session. A warm welcome to you!
Mrs Whitton has successfully completed her probationary year and am delighted she will be staying with us in P7! Huge congratulations on her achievement and success!
Miss Smith is getting married during the holidays and will return as Mrs Baxter. We wish her the most memorable day and look forward to seeing photos of the beautiful bride she will be!

PARENT SURVEY FEEDBACK – Here is a summary of your feedback. The information and statements have been taken into consideration with staff and pupil feedback in identifying our improvement priorities for next session:

CLASS DOJO – I wanted to give you advance notice that the authority have decided to remove the use of Class Dojo from August. We are looking at alternatives for sharing school info and children’s learning and will advise in due course.
If you wish to save any of the portfolio posts from your child’s learning journey, we would suggest taking screenshots of these for your personal use.
UNIFORM – Thanks to everyone who continues to support us by ensuring that the children are wearing the correct uniform.
From our consultation with parents and children the uniform will remain as it is with both the more formal or relaxed option.
As a reminder, children can wear a traditional uniform of white shirt, gold tie, grey trousers/ skirt, grey jumper/ cardigan and black shoes. Alternatively, they can wear a relaxed uniform of Grange grey hoodie/ plain grey hoodies (no logos please), black leggings/ joggers, a plain white t-shirt/ polo shirt (no badges) and BLACK trainers.
P7 will have a Black hoodie for wearing at school events.
The relaxed uniform should also be worn on PE days. If anyone has difficulty in providing uniform please do not hesitate to be in touch. We will also contact families directly if there are any ongoing issues with uniform.
