S3 Art and Design

Course Content:

  • The Art & Design course will provide hands-on practical experiences in both Expressive and Design activities, allowing you the opportunity to creatively communicate your personal thoughts and ideas using a range of media and techniques.
  • In both Expressive and Design units, you will plan, research, develop, produce and present creative artworks, using experiences gained in a variety of media. Experiences range from drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, printmaking, collage, photography, graphics, fashion and textiles, jewellery and architecture.
  • Critical activities, closely related to the practical work you experience, will develop your knowledge and understanding of artists and designers and their work while using artistic terminologies and vocabulary.

Assessment:

  • Observational drawing tests at the beginning and end of the academic year to chart progress. Assessment and reviews take place termly
  • Formative assessment strategies are used daily. Pupils are encouraged to self and peer assess their work to ensure they to actively engage in the learning process.
  • Discussion and reviews take place regularly both informally day to day through dialogue to inform next steps; and challenge learning formally with reviews.
