From the Archives – Town Top Times 1961

This week we have delved into an early edition of our school magazine – Town Top Times. In 1961 first year pupil Colin MacRonald wrote a poem about his school.

Our School

The can speak about the “Gordons”,

An’ the Grammar School sae braw,

Torry, Powis, Ruthrieston,

An’ Cumming Park an a’

But gie tae me the braw new school,

Built wi’ sic a fine design,

The bonny school up on the hill

NORTHFIELD  – school o’ mine

Now, there’s some fine schools aroon’ the Don,

An’ some aroon the Dee,

But I’m sure there’s no’ anither school,

Wi’ sic a-mer-it-ee

As we enjoy at NORTHFIELD,

The best school o’ them a’

There’s time for work an’ time for play,

An’ time to kick a ba’.

So, they can speak about the “Gordons”,

An’ the Grammar School sae braw,

Torris, Powis, Ruthrieston,

An’ Cummings Park an a’

But gie tae me the good old school,

Where we a’ got on sae fine,

In future, I’ll be proud to boast,

That NORTHFIELD SCHOOL was mine.

Members of the Charities Committee will be coming round to tutor classes on Monday to sell tickets for the Lip Sync Battle Event which takes place next Thursday (24th) from 18:30-20:30 in the main hall.

Tickets are £2 each and all money collected will go towards the two charities that are being supported this year; The STV Appeal and Red International. Pupils from all year groups are welcome along with their family and friends. Staff also very welcome!!

We will also be selling tickets in the FONA shop at break times on Monday-Thursday.

Please don’t hesitate to speak to Mr Rorie, Miss Dolan, any of the Charities Committee or myself for more information.
