K’NEX ChristMaths Workshop

Towards the end of term 2, the Primary 5’s took part in a K’NEX workshop. During this workshop the children joined together with P4 to create a Christmas decoration or present using the K’NEX pieces. The children were challenged to use a budget of £5 to create their designs. Each individual piece had a designated cost e.g. 5p for a connector. After building their decoration or present they had to work out the cost of their end product. All groups successfully kept to within their budget which was a huge relief for many and they were surprised at their overall costs. After all the building and budgeting the children were then asked to vote for product they liked the best, looking at best value for money as well as fit for purpose design. They made their vote by putting a voting card into a ballot box. The winning group made a winter tree with snow on it.
