Reading Cloud Fun

Today we were having a go at exploring the Reading Cloud. The Reading Cloud is a social media style platform for children in our school to communicate with one another about books Andy reading that they are enjoying both at school and at home. Today we were creating our biography and and avatar. We also really enjoyed the chat feature once we added one another as friends!!!!

Our New Topic: Finance

We are starting a new whole school topic all about Finance. We will be focusing on ways to pay for items, interest, and many more interesting things.

Some children have started bringing in their coin collections from home. Here are some brought in today.

Numeracy-Area 18.04.19

We were learning how to calculate the area of a shape on 1cm squared paper. We were using the formula LxB which means Length by Breadth so if the length is 3cm, and the breadth is 2cm, we times them together to get 6cm squared to be the area. We found this easy to do so we tried a challenge of creating shapes for a certain area.

The pictures below were of an even bigger challenge. In this challenge we had to create a shape using 7&1/2cm squared for the area. Some of us were VERY creative indeed!!!!

Open Afternoon 27.03.2019

Reminder that we have an Open Afternoon in our classroom tomorrow where we will show all parents, grandparents, carers what we have been learning about this term. We will show everyone our class displays, our work and especially our Learning Journeys. We will try and explain as much as we can to you, so ask all the questions!!!

Triangle Dance

We were pretty chilly outside when we were doing our measuring activity so to keep warm whilst the last few children completed their job, we decided to try out the new Triangle Dance!!! We had lots of fun giving it a go!, Finn and Alfie were definite naturals!

How Far Can You Jump??

Today we went outside to measure how far we can jump! We started by marking where we had to jump from and using one metre stick to measure how far to the nearest tenth of a metre! We then had to mark one metre and from that mark, measure what fraction of a metre more. Some of us were pretty impressed with the distance we could travel!

Measuring Metres in Maths

Today we were using metre sticks to illustrate the length of some people’s jumps in our Maths question today. Some of the boys and girls in our class tried to see if they could jump as far as they could!!!!! We used metre sticks to measure the length of various items around the classroom to the nearest tenth of a metre. For example 1.6m

World Book Day Fun

We have had so much fun taking part in fun activities to celebrate the books and stories of the world. The activities were: creating bookmarks, tracing a character from a story, reading and using interactive story apps, listening to the book ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ which inspired the staff team costume theme!!! And of course we had puppet making, a parade to show off our awesome creations, winners being chosen for Extreme Reading and Best Costume for every class!!!! We have had a super day!!! We also got a lot of our class novel ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. Here are some photos:
