Last week we did LOTS of baking! We had a birthday to celebrate, cupcakes to make for snack AND we made some white chocolate rice krispie cakes for the P7’s MacMillan Coffee Morning!

We learn so much when we bake!

• We do lots of counting when we are measuring the ingredients.
• We practice our fine and gross motor skills when we are stirring the bowl or spooning out the mixture into cases.
• We learn about food and where it comes from.
• We have lots of time to practise our conversational skills and it often helps us to share our learning from home!

Last week and this week we are learning about numbers! We are practising counting and also recognising written numbers.

Aoife in the afternoon nursery cut out these fantastic play dough numbers!

Last week we played number games outside with the morning class. They tried to do a specific number of star jumps, hops, jumps etc and count them as they were doing them. This is a game you could play at home!

Our morning class did a FANTASTIC job in their assembly!

They all spoke confidently and clearly and sat nicely, listening to each other!

We sung two songs and the whole school joined in with our dance to Awesome Rainbows!

We have been fundraising for Nursery by baking for the rest of the school on a Tuesday. This week we made cookies for P5 and our shopkeeper did a fantastic job. His Grandad came to help us too as he was in Nursery for a stay and play session!

Last week the afternoon Nursery went for an adventure around the school grounds. We had fun on the playdale, tried wild blackberries and explored the space. We practised coming back to the adults when they signaled us.

Last week we had lots of fun experimenting with bubbles. We made bubbles in the water tray and in the paint but then Mrs Amos showed us how to make GIANT bubbles outside!

The morning Nursery will be hosting a colour themed assembly on Thursday for the rest of the school, showcasing their learning from the last few weeks.

If possible, please send in the children in wearing an item of clothing in their favourite colour!

On Friday afternoon our buddy class came down to read us some stories again! This time we found it easier to listen as we knew them a little bit better. We love the stories and we talked about the pictures with our buddies.

We cut up some fruit and vegetables in the play kitchen last week and we decided to make a soup! We put all of the fruit and vegetables in a pan and the adults put it on the hob to cook. The soup contained pears, potatoes, white onions, spring onions, apples and a lemon. At the end of the session we blitzed the soup in the blender and we tried it! We thought it was yummy! (The adults weren’t so sure..!)
