Student Placement Policy

Student Placement Policy

Staff Involvement
This policy was drawn up in consultation with the Head Teacher of Taynuilt Primary School and the Staff of Taynuilt Pre 5 Unit.

Rationale
We recognise that the quality and variety of work, which goes on in an early learning and childcare setting, makes it an ideal place for students on placement on a childcare course.

Aim
We aim to provide for students on placement with experiences which contribute to the successful completion of their studies which provide examples of quality practice in early years care and education.

  • Students are made aware of the behaviour required of them.
  • Staff will supervise students at all times and students are not left alone with the children.
  • We require students to keep to our confidentiality policy.
  • Any more information gained by students about the children, families or other adults in the Pre 5 Unit must remain confidential. Records of information will be held in the Pre 5 Unit.
  • We co-operate and work with student’s tutors in order to help students to fulfil the requirements of the course.
  • We provide students with an induction on how our establishment is managed and our policies and procedures.
  • We communicate a positive message to students about the value of qualifications and training.
  • We ensure the needs of the children are our priority.
  • Students will be asked not to use their mobile phones.
