St Mun’s Primary 7 visit Waterloo Road

Alarm clocks were set for an early rise on Wednesday the 7th of November when Primary 7 at St. Mun’s went to visit the set of Waterloo Road.  This modern day school-based drama is set in the old Greenock Academy.  When the Academy closed down the popular series moved from its original location in England  and opened its doors for the new term in Scotland.

On arrival we were split into two groups and taken on guided tours of the building.  Rooms visited included hair and make-up, a room dedicated to just shoes and the teachers’ lounge, which had a huge fish tank and 5 live fish in it.  Mrs. Neeson, our Head Teacher, was very impressed with the Head Teacher’s office and its comfy couch, flat screen T.V. and lots of sparkly things. The room was so big she said she could have fitted 10 of her rooms into it.  It had muffins and a swivel chair you didn’t want to get up out of.  She said that it had got her thinking and that she might have to do a bit of ‘room re-shuffling’… and get herself a new office.

Photos galore were taken and we were all given autographed picture postcards of the actors and actresses from the series and an autographed Waterloo Road tie.  The trip came about as a reward for our hard work and effort in our ‘Buddy’ filming project and let us experience a real filming set.  An experience we will never forgot.
