P4s Blog Update 20.10.22

P4s had an excellent end to term 1. During STEAM week we spent time researching the impact of plastic on the environment and learnt about ways in which everyone can help keep our planet as healthy as possible. The class brought in plastic items from home and we spent an afternoon upcycling them into new and exciting products. P4s created bird feeders, Halloween and Christmas decorations, handbags… we even made some new storage containers for the classroom!

Following STEAM week and the conversations we had, P4s felt that they wanted to do their part around the school to help keep plastic off the ground. Many of the children chose to give up their break and lunch time to litter pick around the playground – very well done to you all!

The beginning of Term 2 will be spent rounding off our Egyptians topic and finishing our first class novel, The Wild Robot. We have two new class novels to read before Christmas – which we are very excited about 🙂

P6bc 20th October 2022

In P6bc we are excited to start our new topic about World War 2.  The children have come up with lots of questions about what they want to learn.

John asked ” Did Hitler really die?”

Niamh wanted to know what the biggest and smallest armies were.

Robyn asked ” What type of food and drink did people have?”

Niamh asked “How many medics were there?”

As you can see, the children have many varied questions that they will research throughout the coming weeks through all of their lessons.

23.9.22 P4hs

We have been really busy in P4hs this term.

We are continuing to read our class novel ‘The Wild Robot’ and enjoying it very much.  We will share our reviews soon.

We really enjoyed doing some junk modelling recently.  We had to work together in groups to create a robot. All the groups worked really well together and created some fantastic robots.

Last week we made a class scarecrow.  We used different fabrics, paper and items of clothing to make our scarecrow.  We are proud to be showcasing our scarecrow at the MacMillan Coffee Morning on Friday 30th September.

We have really enjoyed getting back into the hall for our whole school assemblies.  It’s great to be back together singing and learning.

In our class we have started ‘Star of the Week’.  Millie was our first star and we are looking forward to hearing who will be our next star!

We have started our Egyptian topic and can’t wait to find out more about hieroglyphics, mummification, Egyptian clothing, landmarks and the pyramids.  We used oil pastels to create our own Egyptian masks – they are on display in our classroom and they are fabulous!  To tie in with our shape topic in maths we also drew some 3d pyramids!
