22.4.20 End of Day Post

Good Afternoon everyone!  It’s Mrs Welsh!!

I have missed you all so much and glad to be back in P3!

I hope you have enjoyed your day writing instructions for washing hands, practising timetables, creating timelines and improving your fitness through our PE tasks.  Well done to JR, AA, AC, ML and  EB (P3Sw) and MA, EB, AC, SK, WS, and MW (P3FW) for logging on to Active Learn today and having a go at the challenges set.  A special well done to NF (P3SW) who achieved 100% in bronze, silver and gold levels.

I have been busy today too; taking down and putting away all my Easter decorations and making my favourite soup – chicken and rice! Over the past few weeks, we have painted a different picture on our window. We’ve had rainbows and Easter Eggs but I’m not sure what to do next.  Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you to AC for the photo he sent to Mrs Settle. She can see that you are enjoying your school work and Miss Foote would like to congratulate FP for learning to ride her bike today!

If you have any pictures of things you have been doing please remember you can send us them via the school email address.

In literacy we have . . . .

been learning how to write Tankas. A tanka poem is very similar to a Haiku but Tanka poems have more syllables and are usually written about nature, seasons, love, sadness and other strong emotions.  This form of poetry dates back almost 1200 years ago.

Here are some examples of the Tankas we created in class;

In numeracy  we have . . . .

been learning how to work with fractions.  We have been looking at equivalent fractions and converting between mixed numbers and improper fractions.  Here are some of the examples we have been working on in our jotters.

In maths we have . . . . .

been continuing  to work with time.  Some children have been working with complex time tables; calculating duration’s of journeys or  t.v programmes.  Other children have been converting between 12/24 hour and AM/PM times.

In addition this week have . . . .

been skiing to Hillend

working on our Asian country presentations

creating press printed rangoli patterns
