On Wednesday we had our Christmas party. We played party games and did some dancing. Primary 5MW all looked fabulous in their party outfits. In PE we were learning some Scottish Ceilidh dances. We found the dashing white Sargent  tricky but lots of fun.

We have been learning about Australian animals in our Topic and did presentations about an Australian animal.

We’ve been busy learning our table facts in Primary 5mw and B has enjoyed doing division using the bus stop method.

We have taken part in a whole school Christmas STEM challenge. Primary 5 had to make shelves for the toys to sit. It had to be strong enough to hold the toys and be at least 15cm tall.

We have also been writing Christmas stories. S’s was about an elf that lost all it’s magic.  We are really enjoying reading Tom Fletcher’s new book ‘The Christmasaurus and the Naughty List.’

In French we have been learning about different food and drink.

We are looking forward to our Christmas movie tomorrow!

We have been working really hard in Primary 5mw to learn different strategies for mental calculations.

We took part in a live coding session with other schools all across Scotland. We used scratch to create games and moving animals. We really enjoyed it and some of us have been using it at home too.

Maiya has been really enjoying writing. We have been working hard to use more ambitious vocabulary in our writing.

Primary 5MW have been learning about living things and food chains as part of our Australia Topic. Thomas is keen to learn about Steve Irwin.

We planted daffodil and crocus bulbs as part of a national project. We need to check the rainfall and temperature everyday and record them in a national data base.

We’ve been keeping fit doing cross country running and are trying to improve our distances. Brooke has really enjoyed doing gymnastics – it has been a great start to our Thursday mornings!

We are looking forward to learning more about Australia and watching our bulbs grow!!

Primary 5mw

This is what Primary 5mw have been doing:

E- I’m really enjoying Topic because we are learning about volcanoes. We have done some experiments with coca cola and mentos and made a huge explosion.

T- In Numeracy we have been learning about place value and what our rules are if we multiply by 10,100 or 1000.

L- I’ve been really been enjoying Topic because we’ve been learning about natural disasters.

B- I’ve been enjoying PE because we have been doing lots of Team games and I’m enjoying football.

S- In Topic we have been learning about volcanoes and earthquakes. We made models that wouldn’t fall on the shake tables. We used cocktail sticks and midget gems.

W- I really enjoyed the experiments we have been doing- especially the volcano eruption.

K- I’m enjoying writing. We are making texts about explanations about earthquakes and volcanoes.
