P6W Blog – 24th September 2021

Our highlights from the past two weeks . . .

I liked when we wrote descriptions about our mythical creatures and designed our fairy doors in preparation for creating a “Windyknowe Fairy Trail” in the woodland area.

Last Friday I really liked when we created geometric patterns using straight lines and we also really liked the Lady McNessie art.  We shaded, used oil pastels and pencil; it was so much fun!

We also created multi media presentations on the Dechmont UFO landings in groups of two or three. Some people even managed to visit the sight of the landing during the September weekend.

Numeracy and Maths:

In numeracy we have been doing sequences and patterns,  trying to find the rule. In maths we’ve been doing timetables and trying to find out when a train or bus would leave/arrive.

 Topic:

In topic we have been learning more about Scottish myths and legends.  Our class learned about the Dechmont alien landing and made presentations telling you everything you needed to know about the event in problem solving we were creating Alien Spaceships from craft and junk materials.

Literacy:

In literacy we have been doing sensory descriptions on the fire bird and also we have making character descriptions of mythical fairies for fairy trail.

 Health and wellbeing:

In health and wellbeing we have being learning about the effects of racism and discrimination on children. We looked at an experiment on children with blue eyes where told they were far superior to the children with non –blue eyes.
