International Group

The International Group, made up of pupil representatives from Primary 2 to Primary 7, promotes global citizenship and Fairtrade throughout our school and its community. We are proud of our school’s International School Award from the British Council which recognises the international education embedded throughout our school ethos and curriculum. Williamston Primary is a Fairtrade School and every year we organise events for Fairtrade Fortnight. Our school is privileged to have a partnership with the Universal School in Mumbai and we have completed many projects with our friends in India. The British Council’s Connecting Classrooms programme has allowed staff from both schools to visit each other and we have enjoyed helping to host Indian teachers. The International Group also helps to fundraise for international charities, such as Action Aid. The work of the group is closely linked with children’s rights and the UNCRC. The International Group is committed to inspiring and supporting the school in its international journey and helping to create global citizens for tomorrow’s world.

  1. I loved our trip to the schools conference at Glasgow City Chambers!! I enjoyed Pamela coming to talk to us. It was interesting to find out about her past and how she now works for craft aid. I also loved hearing about the other school and I loved their new song they made up about bananas. My favourite part was when we did the quiz as it was challenging to remember all the questions. I also am really happy that my question got said!! thank-you moll.:-)

I would like to thank Miss McMillan and Miss Watt as well as the international group for taking me!! 🙂
