P5 have visitor from MacMillan Cancer Support

IMG_0954Jayne Forbes came to visit Primary Five today. She works for MacMillan Cancer Support. She told us all about the fantastic support that the charity gives to families affected by Cancer. Last year they were in touch with and gave support to over 5 million people.

In Primary five we are gearing up to next weeks big event at the MacMillan Coffee Morning. We have sold out of tickets for the event with 220 tickets sold. On the day we will be selling MacMillan merchandise, cakes and hyacinth bulbs. You will also have the opportunity to take part in various competitions, including ‘Guess the Teacher’. You will get to find out what our teachers looked like as babies! Lets hope everything runs smoothly and we raise lots of money for a fantastic charity.

Pupils Celebrate Commonwealth Day – 9th March 2015

To celebrate Commonwealth Day ( 9th March 2015) there was a celebratory occasion arranged involving young people from local schools at the Civic Centre. The event was opened by the Provost, Councillor Tom Kerr.

Shirees (P7) and Kaylah (P2) were chosen to represent Williamston Primary School .

They saw the raising of the Commonwealth Flag, listened to a fantastic performance from Howden St Andrew’s Primary School Choir and met lots of other children representing their own schools and Commonwealth Countries. The morning was finished off with a drink and a bite to eat as well as a photo shoot for the local news.

#UNCRCbday

All the boys and girls have been celebrating the 25th anniversary of the UNCRC. We have been exploring the ‘Brightest Right in our Lives’ and presenting it in a variety of ways. We have been discussing why the UNCRC is so important. The Rights Respecting Schools group are looking forward to creating a beautiful display to showcase our work. Keep an eye out for us on Pinterest – watch this space!
