Primary 5 had a fantastic day at Amazonia, where they experienced what the Amazon Rainforest is like. They had the opportunity to see some of the animals found in the Amazon Rainforest, some of them up close in the handling sessions! Primary 5a had the chance to carefully handle a tarantula, a python and hissing cockroaches, whereas Primary 5b could handle a corn snake, a gecko and the hissing cockroaches. It was an amazing start to our South America topic.

Primary 5 Tennis

Primary 5 are starting a block of tennis lessons with a coach called Eoin Swan. The children are really looking forward to tackling a new sport. They will require an outdoor P.E. kit consisting of joggers or leggings, a t-shirt, a sweatshirt and a pair of outdoor trainers. Primary 5b will be doing tennis on a Thursday and Primary 5a on a Friday.

P5’s Superheroes

Primary 5 have reached the end of their Superheroes topic and I’m sure you’ll agree they make amazing Superheroes. The have had to go through rigorous training to become the Superhero you see today and along the way they have helped Not-so-super-Stan become more like a Superhero too. The children have thoroughly enjoyed working with Miss Calder on their topic while learning how to stay fit and healthy. Keep up the good work and happy rescuing!!

Bonjour! Primary 5 had a fantastic French Day on Tuesday 31st March 2015. We had so many activities we had to finish them on Thursday! On Tuesday morning we chopped all the vegetables for Ratatouille and left them to cook in the slow cookers for us to taste at the end of the day. The reveiews were very mixed! We also created collages of  French landmarks using coloured paper and lego. Can you guess what they are? French games were also played. Au revoir!

Primary 5 had a fantastic day at Craigswood Sport Centre yesterday trying out different sports. The day was organised and run by Sky and Young Leaders from High Schools across Edinburgh. The children had an opportunity to try out Rugby, Handball, Judo and Rhythmic Gymnastics. They also took part in two skills sessions. One session was about Healthy Living and the other was Athlectic skills which was run by Leslie and Steve, two sporting professionals.
