Primary 4 were delighted to have a visit from the author Mary Turner-Thomson this week. She will be working with us this term to help us write and illustrate a book in partnership with some of the boys and girls from our link school in India. The first workshop was all about “Perception” and how different people see things in different ways. We had a fun afternoon looking at and discussing lots of pictures and illusions. We can’t wait until next week’s workshop!

Christmas Surveys in P4
In P4, we have been carrying out surveys about Christmas. After learning to collect, organise and display information in a variety of ways, as well as answer questions about the information, we researched a Christmas topic of our choice. We collected information using tally marks and displayed it in bar graphs. Here are some of the results from the surveys:

Connecting Classrooms Update
We are delighted to announce that we have again been awarded the Connecting Classrooms grant by the British Council. As in previous years, this grant will fund reciprocal teacher visits this session. We look forward to welcoming two more teachers from The Universal School, Mumbai in the spring.
P4 Poetry
Primary 4 have been learning to write poems over the last few weeks. We have written poems about Fireworks, World War 1 and Water. We tried to include lots of interesting “wow” words, adjectives and onomatopoeic words, and use tools such as rhyme and alliteration. Come and read our poems – they are displayed on the wall outside our classrooms.
Fairtrade Recipe Book
Thanks to all who bought our Fairtrade recipe book and supported Fairtrade and Action Aid. Thank you also to all who contributed to the production of the book. We have sold lots of copies and raised £152 for Action Aid’s Child Sponsorship programme. Don’t worry if you forgot to order a copy – we will continue to take orders for the book after the holidays. Just bring in an envelope containing payment (£3 per copy) and a note with how many copies are required. Our partner school, The Universal School in Mumbai, will also be selling the book in their school.
Happy Birthday UNCRC from P4!
P4 have been thinking about the UNCRC as it celebrates 25 years. We have been discussing the “Brightest Right in our Life” and we have worked with our friends to make posters to show these rights.
Fairtrade Recipe Book
The International Group are taking orders for their fantastic Fairtrade Recipe Book! The book contains recipes from Williamston pupils and also from pupils in our partner school, The Universal School in Mumbai. All recipes recommend using Fairtrade products. It costs £3 and all money raised will go to Action Aid’s Child Sponsorship Programme. You can order a copy by sending in a note to school along with payment. Orders must be received by Wednesday 10th December. So be quick, order a copy today and support Fairtrade and Action Aid!
