Changing Clothes
Please remember to put in a change of clothes in your child’s nursery bag. We change clothes regularly for many reasons and it is a great help if there are clothes ready to put on. Also if your child has had a change and we used some of our spare clothing please remember to return it to us.
On that note if you have spare clothes you no longer need we would love to have them. At the moment smaller sized clothes are in big demand, as are socks and joggers.
Thank you for your support in this matter.
Our Children’s Learning
Children’s Overview from Mrs Whatcott
Here is a little update of some of the activities going on in our nursery just now.
Happy / Sad Face coming soon………
We thought it would be good to try to support our children who are feeling a little down when they arrive at nursery. Often it is obvious if a child is upset but sometimes they need asked if everything is okay. We thought that if mums/dads/carers asked this question when the child signed in and then put the appropriate ‘face’ beside their child’s name we would get a ‘heads up’ to any child who needed a little comfort at the beginning of the session.
As always we will give this approach a try and then collect your thoughts on how well (or otherwise) it worked.
Children’s Choice
The purple group children had to choose a new rug the other day. Their group space is a little less comfortable to sit on since we had our carpets taken up and our new flooring put in. They decided a rug was the answer. The children had a good look at the catalogues and chose a lovely circle shaped rug which should be arriving soon. Can’t wait!
Overview of Children’s Learning 28.8.18
Attached is an overview of some of the things going on in our nursery just now. We plan to produce these overviews regularly to help keep you in the picture.
Change of Shoes
During the last week of term we are suggesting that children keep their outdoor shoes on instead of changing in to their gym shoes. This means you can take their gym shoes home allowing us to do a big tidy of the cloakroom area. We are able to do this as we are getting new flooring over the summer.
Teddy Bears Picnic
We asked the children to bring their favourite teddy or soft toy in to nursery this week. We had tiny little bears, Build-a-Bears, Lions, Pandas and even Mickey Mouse. We made sure we had some spare in the nursery just in case anyone forgot one from home. We took the toys with us to the gym hall and had a picnic of fruit, a biscuit and even a chocolate button treat. The primary six buddies (soon to be primary one buddies) came. They read us stories and joined in with our games. We had a brilliant time.
Nursery Sports
We hosted another successful nursery sports this week with everyone enjoying races in the gym hall. We had a running race, a balancing a cone on your head race, a jumping race and lastly a running then jumping through a hoop race. We offered an adults race but nobody took us up on that! We did however manage a visitors race in the afternoon to include some younger visitors. The event ended with a lovely medal ceremony.
