Home Learning Grid April 20th week 3

Literacy
• Our new sound today is ‘ng’.
Where is the ‘ng’ sound made? (Note for parents it is made with at the back of the throat with the tongue lifting up. It is an orange colour)
• Can you think of any words that have the ‘ng’ sound?
• Does the ‘ng’ sound come at the start, the middle or the end of these words?
• Slide some sounds together to form words:
King, sing, bang, pong, ping, song, long, strong, bang, fangs, lungs.
• Now write these words and draw a picture to match. (Extension activity, write sentences.)
• Videos to look at,

PE
Get active! If you can, go outside. If you can’t, try using one of our suggested sites.

P6B AFTERNOON

PE

Physical – Go to the website Go Noodle. Select and choose some of the activities from the Fresh Start Fitness tab. https://family.gonoodle.com/channels/fresh-start-fitness

Physical – Join Joe Wicks for a live PE lesson at 9am on his YouTube page https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Na1rzigYlSU

Dance Challenge – Create a short dance video clip (around 15 seconds) using the ‘Can’t Touch This’ dance challenge. Skip to 1 minute and 34 seconds of the video. Begin to create your routine from 1minute 34 seconds until 1 minute and 50 seconds. It may help if you know the ‘macarena’ dance moves to time with each beat.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oJV_1Vj-oA

STEM

Investigating ‘Changes of State’.

Investigate changes of state by making Obleck from cornflour and water, or by testing how long it takes to melt ice at room temperature versus high heat (hairdryer).

Watch the following clip to get you up to speed with the theory behind the science:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNvElea-124.

Record some notes using your whiteboard and pen.

Record your findings (a summary of what happened during your experiment) on paper and pen.  Upload a photograph of your findings under this STEM entry on the wall. Remember, do not fill up the wall with all the pictures.  Only reply under this post.
