P1 (P1L and P1S) Art

Tuesday 28th April 2020

I can sketch a picture of a bird.

As I have been at home a lot recently, I have become quite fascinated with the birds in my garden.  I am trying to capture them on camera but they keep flying away before I can get close.  It gave me an idea – to try and draw some. I have made a start sketching one.

Here is a photo I did manage to capture.

Have you seen any birds?  Try to sketch one.  You may wish to use pencil or black pen like you do at school.  You can colour it in, if you wish.

Memory Game/ What’s Missing

Here is an activity you could play with your child/children. The children enjoy playing this in the nursery. It is a memory game. Put together a small selection of household objects on a table. Let your child look at them for about 30 seconds and then cover them over. See if your child can name some of the objects which are covered over. An alternative to this is to take 1 object away and see if they can recognise which object is missing.

Hope you have fun playing this at home.

Spring has Sprung

Hello to all our friends from Uphall Early Learning Centre

We hope that you are keeping safe and healthy, we are missing you all.

The weather has been wonderful, spring has sprung! With the birds singing, the grass greening and the colours blinging. This is a fantastic time of the year with so much for your children to learn.  Normally we would be engaging with spring as our planning and we thought it would be beneficial for us to focus some of this weeks blog on spring learning.  Please join us by completing some of the activities we post this week.  If you have the time to leave us a comment that would be lovely, you can do this through the ‘reply’ section.

Speak to your child about the changes in the world around us that spring brings. Children love speaking about farm animals and what the babies names are as well as what noises they make.   Have fun exploring this and praise your child as you go.

Help your child learn a nursery rhyme or ask them to sing you a nursery rhyme if they already know it.  Today you could focus on ‘Baa Baa black Sheep’ as it links in with spring.

Baa Baa Black Sheep

Baa baa black sheep, have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full!
One for the master, one for the dame,
And one for the little boy who lives down the lane.

When you go out for your daily exercise look around to see any spring changes.  Such as the blossom on the trees, daffodils, birds singing and collecting sticks for their nest, lots of different bugs and the nice weather.

Have a lovely day 🌸
