ThelifeofTay!

We have had an enormously busy week!

We have been learning our initial alphabet sounds and practising arranging the letters of the alphabet on puzzle boards.

In our number work we have been learning to count our fingers and toes!

We have also enjoyed construction challenges and developing our motor skills with our sensory toys.

We have also enjoyed our books in our class library.

Busy! Busy!

Splashes of learning in P5!

We have had another busy and exciting week in Primary 5! The children continued to work on our class door display and made great progress creating our class charter, helping us think about the kind of classroom we want to learn in together.

This week we were also introduced to Spanish and enjoyed learning some basic greetings to use with one another. In Health and Wellbeing, we spent time talking about the important people we can go to for help both inside and outside of school.

In Science, the class explored the water cycle, learning all about precipitation, condensation and evaporation, and linking these ideas to real-life examples. The children showed fantastic curiosity and made great connections with their prior learning.

It’s been another fantastic week of learning and we are looking forward to what next week will bring!

Splashes of learning in P5!

P5 have had a brilliant second week back at school! We’ve been busy learning some Spanish and practising basic greetings – ¡Hola! In literacy, the children were introduced to new reciprocal reading skills, helping them to work together and share ideas when reading. In science, we explored the water cycle, learning about evaporation, condensation and precipitation, and the children really enjoyed linking this to what they see in the weather around them. We also continued our creative work on our classroom door display and class charter, making sure our room reflects the values and ideas that are important to us as a class.

Another busy week in Rannoch class

This week the children have been very busy learning and having fun! They loved exploring the sensory room with its lights, sounds, and textures, and had lots of active play on the trim trail. In class, we have been practising coming to the teaching table for learning and joining in with our morning group times. Snack and lunch have also been lovely opportunities to share, make choices, and build independence. We are especially proud that some children are now starting to use their visuals really well to show what they want — a big step forward in their communication. 😀

Stay tuned to see what we get up to next week! 😌

Week two in Primary 1

We have a fantastic week in Primary 1!

Everyone has done fantastic work during our phonics lessons. In Primary 1 we will be learning a new sound every day which it lots of work but all the boys and girls have been fantastic. We use Read Write in to help us learn our sounds.

We are not only learning how to say the sounds but write ✍️ them as well, Miss Stenhouse is so proud of everyone.

In number work we are beginning to learn all about different numbers, how to build then, count them, make them and write them.

All the boys and girls are showing amazing concentration.

Throughout the day we all enjoy exploring the toys and playing with our friends.

Have a lovely weekend.

ThelifeofTay!

From next week, we look forward to bringing you news of the travels of Taylor our class mascot. He will be journeying beyond the school to see what the members of Tay class get up to!

This week has been lovely! It has been our first full week as members of Tay. We have enjoyed playing on our musical instruments, navigating the Trim Trail and enjoying lots of sand play in the Outdoor Classroom! We have also enjoyed trying out our class spinning chairs and looking at our books in our class library.

Welcome to Primary 1

Wow 🤩 what an amazing first week in Primary 1!
All the boys and girls  have settled in well to school and are gaining confidence when going for break and lunch with the other boys and girls.

We have been learning our school values and that we all have rights. We all used our finger prints and hand prints to agree to try our best to show our school values, and remind us of our rights.

We are all looking forward to lots of learning and playing this year.

First week in P5 complete👍✔️

🎉 Welcome Back, Everyone! 🎉

A new school year means new adventures, new friends, and exciting things to learn! Over the next few weeks, we’ll be getting into our classroom routines so we know just what to do each day. We created our new door design with Mrs. Saunders, and went over our class/school values, that we will uphold this year. Both, Mrs Saunders and Ms. Fox can’t wait to laugh, learn, and make this our best year in St. Mary’s yet! 🚍✏️📚📘
