Primary 1

In class this week we have been using different language for big and small in our number work, greater and less, more and fewer. We have played lots of games with numbers to develop our understanding.

We spent some time this week deciding what it was that we wanted to learn about Scotland for our topic, we came up with some fantastic ideas and are now keen to learn more.

It was lovely weather for our outdoor learning this week and we enjoyed spending some time in the school garden, checking on what we had planted at the start of the year. After the garden we had some time in the trip trail, work on our balance and co ordination skills as well as working together. Everyone loves getting outside.

In RE we learned the story of Noah and his Arc, we all made our own rainbows 🌈 to represent God’s promise.

Have a lovely weekend ☺️

Hello 2025 in Primary 1

What a fast first week back to school in Primary 1.

We have enjoyed the excitement of the colder weather, in class we had snow in our tuff tray and made our own ice 🧊 with water in the freezer. It was lots of fun trying to save the winter animals that were trapped in the ice. This brought about lots of discussion around the process of freezing and melting and how we have had snow and not rain.

We took this interest into our writing this week, writing about ice and snowmen ⛄️.

During number work we have been looking at ordinal numbers and left and right. This gave us lots of opportunities to have races and play lots of games. We looked around the room to see where else we use ordinal numbers, we did very well pointing out that we use it on the calendar πŸ“… and that our birthdays πŸŽ‰ we use ordinal numbers.

We have started our new topic for this term, Scotland. We will be learning facts about Scotland and about famous Scottish 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 people and Scottish words and songs. We have started by looking at the 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Scottish Flag and made some for our classroom.

Have a lovely weekend πŸ˜‰
