We had lots of fun with numbers this week, lots of games and counting. We even managed to use the vegetables we collected from the garden to make a chart and practice counting.

On Friday we had the chance to come to breakfast club with our adults. We got to choose lots of tasty things and sit with our family and friends.
The adults then got to come into our class to to see us doing literacy work. We did our Free Writing Friday, and we showed our grown ups or writing and sounds jitters.
We loved showing our adults our classroom and our wonderful work.
Primary 1 have had a super learning week.
We spent some time in the garden harvesting some vegetables 🥔 🥕 and turnip. Finding our vegetable treasure was very exciting. We got to use garden tools and had to dig deep to find them. They were very dirty, so we have spent time cleaning them. Lots of discussion was had on what we could make with them.
There was enough for us all to take one home!
The cleaning was lots of fun, we enjoyed looking at them once all the dirt was washed off.
We then peeled and chopped the vegetables and put them in a pot to make soup, we added water, lentils, stock cubes and mixed it before putting it on the cooker. We bought some extra vegetables from the shop to add to our soup.
Once the soup was cooked we buttered some bread and had a taste of it, some of us ate more than one bowl of soup, it was that tasty. Some of us just smelt the soup as we were unsure and some of us only had bread.
This week we made cheese and ham toasties with salad 🥗 and a hot chocolate ☕️.
Today in gardening club we got to use the secateurs. We listened to the safety rules as they are very sharp and strong. We then listened very carefully to how we prune the trees in our school garden. An excellent job completed and the trees are now under control.
We also weeded one of the large planters……weeding again 🤯 and this made us think of how quickly the weeds grow and why it is important to keep on top of them so our vegetables 🌽 and flowers can grow.
we even managed to harvest some.
Wow what a quick week in Primary 1!
We made the most of the sunshine ☀️ and got outside for some story time and some literacy. With chalk we wrote our sounds and our names in the playground.
As we will be starting to use Seesaw at home we spent some time practicing how to logon, to find an activity, using the tools and clicking the ✅ to submit our work. We all did very well.
As Autumn 🍂 is beginning we have been taking about what the changes are in our environment that lets us know it is Autumn. During our outdoor learning session we collected fallen leaves and sticks. Back in class we very carefully separated all the leaves 🍁 and put them between paper to press them dry. We can’t wait to have a look at them in once they are dry and use them.
Have a lovely weekend!
It was sweet week in cooking club and we made chocolate croissants 🥐.
We had to cut the pastry 🥐 into triangles, roll our chocolate inside the pastry. We then glazed them with milk before we put them in the oven to cook.
Lots of skills were used while making them.
We then had to wait for then to cool before we could taste them.
This week was savoury week at cooking club 🧑🍳
We are all getting very good at following the cooking safety rules.
We had to spread the tomato sauce over our tortilla wrap, we then sprinkled cheese 🧀 and then the toppings 😋 after that we had to cook them in the oven.
Once they were out the oven we go to eat them together in class.
First week back at gardening club. We got out in the garden to talk about what we need to do during our time at gardening club.
We managed to move a planter and fill in a big dangerous hole and harvested some cabbage 🥬. We are looking forward to getting stuck in to helping to maintain the school garden.
A great first week at gardening club.
This week in Primary 1 we have been looking at different ways to make numbers and talking about why numbers are important, not just in school!
We used tally marks, numicon, ten frames and much more to make our numbers and turn them into posters for our wall.
We ar doing very well in our sounds and it is lovely to here that so many of you are practicing at home.
In music we are working on keeping a beat. To help us with this we used rhythm sticks and boomwackers. We all found this lots of fun.
During play we have been exploring how to use the blocks to build different structures.
Have a lovely weekend.
