Halloween πŸŽƒ in Primary 1

What a fun, bus learning week in Primary 1.

As this was Halloween πŸŽƒ week we took our inspiration from this.
To start with we were working on science πŸ§ͺ mixing materials together to make a new material, we made slime. It was lots of fun.

We thought about how we could not separate the materials again and put it back to how we got them, once mixed and turned into slime it was stuck that way.

This then made us think about melting, we can melt water πŸ’§ and then turn it back into ice 🧊, but we can’t do that with everything. We melted jelly blocks in hot water and let them set in the fridge. Once made we could not turn it back to water and jelly. Again this was lots of fun and we got to take our jelly potion home.

We stuck with the same theme of Halloween πŸŽƒ and mixing, this time it was powder and water πŸ’§ to make icing sugar. We also found out that we couldn’t switch it back to powder and water. We had a great time icing biscuits and decorating them.

On Thursday we had a spooky session in the woods for our outdoor learning. We were joined by Primary 6 and had lots of fun.

On Friday we celebrated All Saints Day with mass in the school. We were very respectful during the service and sang beautifully.

Have a lovely weekend.

Halloween fun in Primary 1

As Halloween is approaching we have been reading spooky stories and making potions πŸ§ͺ in class. We all found this lots of fun, think of names for our potions and what they would do.

We also created som leaf 🍁 art in class, we created Autumn characters with the leafs.

On Friday we enjoyed coming to school dressed up for our Halloween πŸŽƒ Party. It was lots of fun.

Primary 1

Pumpkin πŸŽƒ play in primary 1. Primary 1 were given a pumpkin to explore this week. We all talked about when we had seen one before, if anyone had tasted and the smell of them.

We had lots of fun scooping out the inside and discovering 🌱 seeds, we carefully washed them at sat them out to dry. The class decided that they would like to try to grow their own pumpkins…..watch this space.
The pumpkin was then made into a πŸŽƒ Jack-o-lantern and then chopped up for soup. Some of us used the top of it to practice our screwing skills.

We had a lovely outdoor session this week, enjoying the Autumn πŸ‚ sunshine we headed to the park.

During the week we also got to participate in our committee groups, we did very well moving round the school to other classrooms and working with children from across the school to make important committee decisions.

On Friday we participated in mass with the whole school. We were all very respectful and listened really well to Father and the Primary 7’s.

Have a lovely holiday πŸ˜€

Primary 1

This week in Primary 1 we started our topic, Families. We thought about our own families and drew pictures to represent them. Lots of discussions we had about different types of families.

After Β learning about the season of Autumn we read the story Pumpkin Soup and have been getting creative with materials to make pretend soup in class.
On Friday we got to vote for House Captains, we had to go up to the Primary 7 classroom to vote. We were all very sensible.

As we were upstairs in the school we took the opportunity to visit some of the other spaces and classrooms in the school, it was lots of fun.

Have a lovely weekend everyone πŸ₯°

Last week of cooking πŸ§‘β€πŸ³ club

What a very messy afternoon we had at cooking club today!

We melted chocolate and made chocolate covered apples and bananas and decorated them with sprinkles 🍫 🍎 🍌 it was lots of fun and very messy! Once we decorated our apples and bananas we then got to dip marshmallows into the melted chocolate 🍫 it was very yummy and sticky.

Some of us ate all our goodies but some of us have them in the fridge to take home tomorrow.

We are looking forward to the next block of cooking club already πŸ˜€

Primary 1 cooking πŸ§‘β€πŸ³

Primary 1 have had a super learning week.

We spent some time in the garden harvesting some vegetables πŸ₯” Β πŸ₯• and turnip. Finding our vegetable treasure was very exciting. We got to use garden tools and had to dig deep to find them. They were very dirty, Β so we have spent time cleaning them. Lots of discussion was had on what we could make with them.

There was enough for us all to take one home!

The cleaning was lots of fun, we enjoyed looking at them once all the dirt was washed off.

We then peeled and chopped the vegetables and put them in a pot to make soup, we added water, lentils, stock cubes and mixed it before putting it on the cooker. We bought some extra vegetables from the shop to add to our soup.

Once the soup was cooked we buttered some bread and had a taste of it, some of us ate more than one bowl of soup, it was that tasty. Some of us just smelt the soup as we were unsure and some of us only had bread.
