Nurture have had a spook-tacular week as we’ve been getting into the Halloween spirit! 🧡

We’ve been busy making our very own magical chocolate wands 🪄🍫 and creating beautiful pumpkin artwork using autumn leaves. 🍂🎃 We loved getting creative and seeing everyone’s unique designs!

We also enjoyed spending time with our mainstream classes at their Halloween parties, joining in the fun and making some lovely memories together. 👻🕷️

What a fang-tastic week full of creativity, fun and Halloween magic! We hope everyone has a happy and safe Halloween! 🧡🖤

The Nurture Class have been enjoying a mini topic all about autumn! 🍂 This week, we explored the colours, sights and changes that we see during autumn and created some lovely autumnal artwork. The children enjoyed getting creative and using different materials and techniques to make their own autumn-inspired pieces. 🎨🍁

P4 had a fantastic time during our music lesson this week, exploring rhythm, beat and sound using boomwhackers! We worked together to follow different rhythms and listened carefully to one another as we created music as a class. Everyone had lots of fun experimenting with the different sounds and developing our confidence, listening and teamwork skills. We are looking forward to seeing what we can create in our next music session! 🎵🌟

This week in Nurture, the learners showed a real interest in the story of Pinocchio! We enjoyed exploring the story together and had some fantastic discussions and opportunities to share our thoughts about the importance of telling the truth and how this links to our school values.

Learners were encouraged to communicate their ideas in ways that work best for them, including through talking, visuals, gestures and other forms of communication. We then got creative and made our very own Pinocchio artwork, complete with an extendable nose! 🎨👃

It was lovely to see everyone engaging with the story in their own way and having fun bringing Pinocchio to life!

This week, our P4 and P5/4 classes have been exploring biodiversity and habitats! We have been learning about the amazing variety of living things around us and thinking about the different habitats they call home.

We took our learning outdoors and headed to the woods to become biodiversity detectives! 🔎🌳 We worked together to see how many different living things we could discover and identify where they lived.

We found lots of exciting things along the way, including squirrels, spiders and even spider eggs! 🕷️🥚🐿️ We loved getting up close to nature and making connections between the animals and their habitats.

It was fantastic to see everyone showing such curiosity, teamwork and enthusiasm as we explored the natural world around us! 🌱💚

This week, Primary 4 had their first NYCOS session and what a fantastic start we had! We had lots of fun exploring music and getting involved in a range of activities.

The children demonstrated excellent listening skills, following instructions carefully and engaging enthusiastically throughout the session. It was particularly lovely to see them encouraging and supporting their peers, celebrating each other’s contributions and joining in together.

We were so impressed by the children’s enthusiasm for the Expressive Arts and their willingness to have a go, explore and enjoy making music together. We are already looking forward to our next NYCOS session! 🎵⭐

This week, we have been making the most of the dry weather and enjoying some time outdoors on our school’s trim trail.

The children had lots of opportunities to develop their confidence, balance, coordination and independence while exploring the different activities. It was lovely to see each child engaging with the trim trail in their own way, with some choosing to challenge themselves and try new activities, while others built confidence through repeated practice and encouragement.

We were particularly proud to see the children becoming more confident using the balance activities and different elements of the trim trail independently. These small steps towards independence are fantastic to see and are a great way for the children to develop their physical skills while also building resilience and self-belief.

As we settle into a new school year, we have been thinking about what it means to grow and develop. This week, we created some artwork inspired by growth and took time to reflect on the progress we have already made since last year. For some of us, this might be becoming more confident, communicating our needs, building relationships or becoming more independent with our routines. We celebrated that everyone’s journey is different and that growth can look different for each of us. It was lovely to see the children recognise and celebrate just how far they have come. 🌸💚

We’ve had a fantastic first week back in Nurture! 🌟 We have been busy settling into our routines, getting comfortable in our learning environment and getting to know each other. We explored our likes, dislikes and interests through a range of fun activities, using visuals, choices and different forms of communication to help everyone share their ideas. We also began learning about our rights, using visual supports to help us understand and explore what our rights mean. To celebrate our Nurture community, we created colourful painted handprints, showing that every individual is unique and an important part of our class. It has been a lovely week of learning, building relationships and getting settled, and we are excited for all the fun and learning still to come! 💛

This week in Nurture, the children enjoyed exploring our summer-inspired sand and turf sensory tray. They had lots of fun digging, scooping, and creating while engaging their senses through different textures and natural materials. The activity encouraged imaginative play, curiosity, and conversation, while supporting fine motor skills and providing a calm and enjoyable sensory experience.
